12. oldal MAGYAR EGYHÁZ We were honored with a special guest, Bishop Lorant Hegedűs, Bishop of the Reformed Church of Hungary. He spoke to us in Hungarian about the churches and its people in Hungary. The meeting adjourned at about 11:15 A.M. As a conclusion of the Presbyters’ meeting, the Presbyters joined the Pastors of the Ministerial Association at the Chapel for divine worship and Holy Communion. After the service, everyone enjoyed the lunch provided by the Bethlen Home and the Federation. Some of the delegates left soon after the worship service, and others left after lunch. After talking to some of the delegates, I was left with the impression that the meeting was successful, and some commented they would try to bring others to the meeting next year. I do hope we shall see a larger representation of our churches at the Presbyters’ meeting next year. Submitted by: Paul J. Szaniszlo, President Officers for 1991 and 1992. NEW BUILDING FOR THE REFORMED COLLEGE IN KOLOZSVÁR The Reformed High School in Cluj is the only school of this kind, run by the Reformed Church in Romania. It is the successor of the former famous Reformed College, which has been nationalized by the communist regime in 1948. The Church requested the return of the old building, in 1990, without success. According to the present standpoint of the local authorities, at the time being, a positive solution is improbable. In these circumstances the pupils of the high school have only 4 classrooms in a state elementary school. Far from the school there is a boarding school, while the drill hall is in another direction, far from the school, too. The boarding school is at our disposal only temporarily and even, if we could use it for an additional year, it will be not enough for the increasing number of the pupils, who shall be accommodated in it. The Reformed Church in Transylvania desires to reestablish the spirituality of the former Reformed College, but it is by all means necessary for the school, to have its own building, with the suitable equipment, including the boarding school. Now, the school houses have cca 260 pupils, but next year their number will increase to 400. Under these circumstances, the Church leadership decided to have constructed a new school building. Since the material possibilities of the Church are limited due to the poor economical situation of the country and the effects of the former regime, our sisters and brothers abroad are asked to help us with their financial-material aids to build the new school.
