PERTH AMBOY, NJ In most cases once the public schools close, young people have very little to do. In the long history of our congregation, following the regular school days we provide an opportunity to our young people to attend a Summer vacation Bible School. This year was no different. On Tuesday, July 5th, we gathered our young people together with our church bus, others have come with their parents, we had a dedicated group of teachers and the school began. For two weeks, even during the hottest period of the summer so far, we had a joyful time at the side of the Word of God. Our theme this year was “Discovering God’s Power.” We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation toward the parents, who did everything in their power to give us their children, the children who came joyfully, and last but not least our teachers, who took the time, and placed their efforts into the classrooms to bring forth the greater knowledge of God. Our teachers were: Mrs. Judith Quinn assisted by Miss Jaqueline Hansen and Mrs. Lina O’Connel, Mrs. Cynthia Torok and Miss Linda Pirigyi, Mrs. Jeannie Talbott, Mrs. Carol Latkovich and Mrs. Irene Gerecs, Mrs. Suzanne Szucs assisted by Mrs. Barbara Fiure- Abbey, and the Pastor. On the closing day of the school we all enjoyed a family picnic in the church yard. During the summer months our Worship Service attendance has come somewhat down, but preaching a series on the Lord’s Prayer has brought back many to meditate on the precious prayer of our Lord. We also had a good share of church activities, and we can say that this summer proved to be one of the busiest of all. On Sunday, July 10th, we accepted into the fellowship of the Church of Jesus Christ the newborn son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kravitz — Timothy Scott, one week later on July 17th we stood again at the Baptismal Fountain with John Christofer Latkovich, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. John Latkovich. On Saturday, July 23rd, our Pastor conducted the Marriage Ceremony of Monika Batiz, daughter of the Pastor of the Linden Magyar Reformed Church and Wiliam Corea in Wayne Manor, Wayne, New Jersey. On the first Sunday of August we joined together in THE NEW AND REVISED COOK BOOK is now available from the Women’s Guild HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH 331 Kirkland Place Perth Amboy, NJ 08861 Price: $4.00 plus Postage $.75 the House of God at the Lord’s Table. Our Pastor was able to take a week vacation, only to return to attend the Conference with our Youth in Laurelville, PA, and conduct services of marriage between Miss Laura Antoinette Melilli and Peter James Latkovich which took place on August 20th. On August 21st the Ordination service of Rev. Ambrus Batiz, of the Linden Magyar Reformed Church is scheduled, while on August 27th Jane Egry and Edward Tenpenny will be united in marriage. On August 27th we join together with the family of our Chief-Elder of the Synod Mr. and Mrs. Anthony C. Beke to thank Almighty God for His guidance and care over the marriage of these two lovely people. On August 28th through the Sacrament of the Holy Baptism we receive into the membership of the Church of Christ Elizabeth Ashley King, infant daughter of Mr. Stephen King and his wife the former Agnes Szabó, who were united in marriage at our church a year earlier. We congratulate both to the parents and family of those who have received a new life, and to those who have just started to walk down life’s path together. After a much active summer, we look forward to the busy season with this coming September.
