14. oldal MAGYAR EGYHÁZ Az Úr Isten megáldotta a húsvéti ünneplésünket. Ugyancsak vasárnap, május 15-én, kértük a jó Isten további áldását Mr. és Mrs. John Kisty testvéreink számára 50 éves házassági évfordulójuk alkalmával. Itt is Isten áldását kérjük reájuk. A jó Isten vigasztaló kegyelme legyen a megszomorodott családokkal. CARTERET, NJ Despite the cold weather throughout this Spring, our church has her 85th Anniversary fever. The Church Council declared 1988 the 85th Anniversary year in our church, which means that our grounds are renovated. The Men’s Club started it with purchasing all new ranges and ovens to the kitchen for $3,500, which will be followed by changing the ceiling blocks, and refinishing the wooden floors in our Bethlen Hall. The Lorantffy Women’s Guild is getting estimates for the painting of our church inside, installing ceiling fans that the airconditioner and heater may not work as hard, and save energy. One of our bell motors needs to be changed, the stained glass windows need to be fixed, cleaned. The Parsonage needs a new coat of paint on the outside, the driveway needs to be fixed. The Memorial Plaques in the vestibule, showing the names of all our deceased members is being updated. In order to be able to finance all these projects, we started a special drive, by sending out 85th Anniversary Renovation Fund envelopes to all our members, asking them to support the church in putting the buildings in shape. The next project will be spiritual renewal! On Mother’s Day the Men’s Club provided carnations to all mothers, as well as the flower decorations in church. The Sunday School surprised all attendants with a beautiful bookmark with the church’s name on it. Ascension Thursday and Pentecost services were quieter this year, since we had no Confirmands. Father’s Day is the closing of the Sunday School year. We would like to thank all our teachers for their effort in educating our children: Miss Martha Delbacs, Mrs. Anne Marie Fuller, Mrs. Jackie Kijula, Mr. Randall Kijula, Ms. Zsuzsanna Prundl, Mrs. Betty Yockavitch and Superintendent Ilona Nitsch. Following the service the Lorantffy Women’s Guild hosted all our men and children for a Father’s Day Champagne Breakfast. Thanks! The combined summer picnic of the Lorantffy Women’s Guild, Men’s Club and Sunday School will be held on June 26 in Medwick Park in West Carteret. Holy Communion for New Bread will be served on August 7. The Buy-A-Brick Fundraiser of the Men’s Club will culminate in a dinner-dance on September 10. Our 85th Anniversary Dinner-Dance will be held on October 22, from 6:00 p.m., and we expect to see all our area Pastors and church representatives present. Weddings: Andrew Basht and Mary Elizabeth Erdélyi in Coatsville, PA, on April 23; Steve Kulcsár and Cynthia M. Knis on June 5; Julius Lengyel, Jr. and Kathleen M. Mayland on June 11th. May God bless their unions. Funerals: Helen Ferrer (81) on April 5; Ernest Soos (66) on June 14, Leo C. George (57) on June 15. May they rest in peace. PERTH AMBOY, NJ The past two months have been very active in the life of our congregation. On the first Sunday of the month of May, we hosted the Church Women United Conference, where almost 80 women from the area has gathered for spiritual fellowship. The theme of the Conference was: My Heroes Have Always Been These Women of the Bible. Speaker for the occasion was Ms. Karen Neary, teacher and former Matron of the Woodbridge Chapter of the Eastern Star. We all enjoyed her presentation, and many questions have been raised about the life and service of women mentioned in her presentation. Following the conference a delicious supper was served in our church center by the Women’s Guild of our Church. Our pastor, whose brother is visiting from Czechoslovakia was absent from the conference, because of prior commitment of a family celebration in Windsor, Ont., Canada. On the Second Sunday of May we joined together in honoring mothers on Mother’s Day. A combined service filled the House of Worship, and we made flower presentation to all women of our church. Following the service a Mother’s Day breakfast was served by the Fellowship Circle in our Church Center. On May 12th, Ascension Day, we held special services, during which time the following young people made their open confession of faith and were received into full membership of the Church: Lisa Talbott, Theodore Takacs, Wendy Czebrowski, Jacqueline Hansen, Dominick Berecsky and Sherry Latkowich. We congratulate them, and pray that they remain faithful to their vows — to Christ and His Church. On May 22nd we commemorated the birthday of the Christian Church at Pentecost. During our worship services, the Sacrament of the Holy Supper was observed. On this
