By God’s grace we have stepped into the New Year, and our hope and prayer is that our God as He has promised will be with us to the end. This report, however, mostly is focused on the Old Year. The first and foremost we can say about the past year, that it was a time of quiet and peaceful opportunity to work and grow together in our Lord. From our financial report we can share with you the following: Income $100,608.54; expenses $88,589.86. We have closed the year with a positive balance. From our vital statistical records: Baptism, 6; Weddings, 6; Confirmation, 4; Funerals, 13; New members, 8. During the past year we gathered 56 times at the English, 57 times at the Hungarian, and 4 times during our Combined Worship services. Holy Communion was observed 12 times in our congregation. Our Pastor has started his 12th year service in our midst, the last 3 years serving as Dean of the Eastern Classis of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. Our Annual Congregational Meeting was held on February 9th, following a Combined Divine Worship Service. Decisions and plans made at the meeting will be reported in our next issue. In this New Year the work of our organizations, and Bible study opportunities resumed and we extend an invitation to our members to join in. Our future ventures: On February 7th, Friday, we hosted a Hungarian program with visiting actors and singers in our Church Center in cooperation with the “Népszava” newspaper. On March 9th we are hosting the meeting of the Eastern Classis, and on March 26th Wednesday evening the Debrecen College Choir will sing in our church. We extend an invitation to all our friends. Donation to subsidize their cost will be $5.00 only. Vital Statistics: Baptism: On Febr. 9th we received into the family of God through the Sacrament of Baptism Christopher William Gesek, son of Mr. & Mrs. Donald Gesek. Congratulation. Egyházi életünkről szóló jelentést istentisztelet előtt vagy után mindenki felveheti. Köszönet azoknak, akik bőkezűen támogatták az elmúlt évben egyházunkat. Szervezeteink között a két nőegylet, az idősebb csoport 30,000 dollárt az ifjabb 20,800 dollárt adott egyházunk támogatására. Február 16-án böjtfő vasárnapján, mint minden évben, az úrasztalát megterítettük; legközelebb húsvétkor lesz úrvacsora osztás. Február 23-án, vasárnap a Szabadság Szobor renoválási költségeinek alapjára és a Református Egyesület 90 éves jubileumára ünnepi bankettet rendeztünk, vendég szónokunk volt Nt. Bertalan Imre elnök. Március első hétvégén Nt. Szépfalusi István ausztriai evangélikus lelkész és író, amerikai körútja során köztünk lesz. Az érdeklődők figyelmét felhívjuk szolgálatára, előadására. Ifjú Nőegyletünk Dorcas Guild társas kirándulást rendez Hawaii-ba szeptember 16-tól. A kéthetes út összes költsége 1,385 dollár. Érdeklődőknek bővebb felvilágosítással szolgálnak a kör tagjai. Statisztikai adatok: keresztelés az angol hírek közt, temetés, halálozás: Kelemen James (Imre), 71 éves korában és Dézsi Gusztávné, szül. Tar Juliánná, 88 éves korában hunytak el. Emlékük legyen áldott. CARTERET, NJ Lelkipásztor: Nitsch Gábor 175 Pershing Avenue, Carteret, NJ 07008 Telefon: (201) 541-5051 A karácsonyi istentiszteletek szépen látogatottak voltak, habár a tavaly többen jöttek el a karácsony esti gyertyafényes istentiszteletre. Az újévi összevont istentisztelet után, a hagyományos szeretetvendégséget megtartottuk a parókián, amelyre a szép számmal megjelenő gyülekezet minden tagja átjött. Több egyháztagunk részt vett a Holy Family templomban megtartott ekumenikus istentiszteleten, amelyet az egyetemes imahét alkalmából a helyi lelkészegyesület szervezett. Minden templom lelkésze részt vett, közös kórus énekelt, mindannyiunk örömére. A Lórántffy Nőegylet megtartotta január végén az első Bolhapiacot (Flea Market). A Férfi Kör pedig Valentine ebédet készít asszonyainknak.
