McKeesport, pa From our church records: Charles Gilbert McCauley and Lori Ann Jordanhazy were married in our church on May 9th. Lori is the daughter of our church treasurer. The church was crowded with the many guests at the happy occasion. When the other congregations are slowing down our ladies are getting the busiest when making preparations to the 24th “Annual International Village” this event will take place at the park at the front of our church on August 21, 22, and 23. The next service of Holy Communion will be held on August 19th. According to the plans our reorganized church Choir will continue to sing at the Sunday services and have choir rehearsals all Summer. Two adults, Elaine Ambrose and Charlotte Makatura joined our church recently. There is a visitation of church families by the pastor and Elder Andy Makatura going on weekly. PERTH AMBOY, NJ Once again summertime is here, anil the life of our Congregation slows down. Many are prepared for their vacations, while others spend the weekends down at the seashore. Our church life, however, goes on. On the later part of May we welcomed Rev. Andor Demeter from Phoenix, Arizona, who brought with him the needs of their church. Our congregation assisted their effort in building their new church with a donation of $2,600.00. On the second Sunday of the month we commemorate Pentecost. Our assistant during Holy Communion was Rev. Edward Hardwick. We express our thanks for his services. On the third Sunday we held a combined Worship Service honoring fathers on Father’s Day. A delicious breakfast was served by the Fellowship Circle, and the Father of the Year award w'as presented to Mr. Andrew Lovász. On June 19th an Annual Family Night was held by the Women’s Guild at the church yard. All in attendance had a wonderful time. On June 24th — under the sponsorship of the Women’s Guild — a trip was taken to Radio City Music Hall in New York City. All enjoyed the show and the delicious meal. On June 25th we started our Vacation Bible School. This year’s theme “God Bless Our Native Land” provided informative religious lessons to both the teachers and our children. We express our thanks for the faithful work of our teachers: Mrs. Pamela Lovász, Superintendent, Mrs. Cynthia Torok, Mrs. Jean Talbott, Mrs. Eileen Suatner, Mrs. Carol Latkovich, Miss JoAnn Bodnar, Mrs. Rose Carson, teachers, Miss Kristina Schurr, organ and piano player and Miss Linda Pirigyi, helpers. Our average attendance this year was also around 30-35. The pastor and his wife were happy to welcome Rev. Torok’s daughter Ilona from Phoenix, Arizona for her month long visit. The Pastor and his wife left for their vacation on July 8th to Europe. During their absence Church Services were conducted by Rev. Imre Bertalan, President of the Hungarian Reformed Federation. From our vital statistics: Baptism: Jacqukeline Anne — daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Niemiera, on June 24th. Funeral: Mr. Steven Czeto from Matawan. TRENTON, NJ During the Annual Elder’s Dinner was given out the “Person of the Year” award. The committee found two persons this year, who were worthy of receiving this award. It happened for the first time, at least in our church, that a husband and wife received this award in the same year. Both of them are elders of our church for many years and not only last year hut for many years have proved their love for this church with their work. Mr. Louis Parrey and his wife. Helen Parrey share the “Person of the Year” award as they have shared joys and sorrows in their married life. We extend to them our congratulation. Even though the summer months have arrived and traditionally the work of the congregation slows down, at least in our congregation the summer months still mean plenty of work, for every member of the congregation.
