Imre Bertalan, president of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America was our guest speaker on October 25th, and our ladies hosted the field workers' meeting of the Federation in our church. PERTH AMBOY, N J. After the summer we looked patiently to the time when our church life would return to the normal way. We were not disappointed. September became a new spring in the life of the church. Pews were filled once again, and activities resumed. Our Saturday and Confirmation, Sunday School and meetings were once again centers of gatherings for the benefit of the children of God. Among the activities sponsored are the Traditional Grape Festival held on September 26th, which is always a joyous occasion at the church. On the 27th of September we sponsored a bus trip to the Maddowland Arena to see the combined program of Holiday on Ice and Ice Follies. On October 3rd we joined in the 85th Anniversary Celebration of the Hungarian Federation held in New Brunswick, and the following day observed the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper being World Wide Communion Sunday. The Sunday message in english was delivered by our student assistant Mr. Louis Medgyesi. Following the service we joined in celebrating the 93rd birthday on Mrs. John Marincsak Sr. In this place also we would like to extend our greetings and best wishes to her. While we celebrated Mrs. Marincsak’s birthday we are sadly saying farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Marincsak who are moving away from our area to Florida. We hope that their new sorrounding will give them the rest they are looking for. With great anticipation we look forward to Oct. 25th at which time Laymen's Sunday and Christian Education Sunday will be held in our church. Our children prepare themselves with great joy and Mr. Frank Zambo will deliver the Sunday Message. We pray that the Almighty God will direct us as we desire to walk with Him. TRENTON, NJ. Rev. Kalman Adorján was elected to be the new pastor of our church at the congregational meeting on July 12th. He arrived and began his pastoral work on September 20th. Rev. Stephen Kovács retired on June 28th but until the arrival of the new pastor continued his work in the congregation. Baptism—On June 14th Michelle Suzanna, the child of Dennis Hanft and Susanna Antal Hanft, was baptized. Her godparents are Mr. and Mrs. Steven Antal. Also on the same Sunday Melissa Nicole, the child of Steven Antal and Linda Piel Antal, was baptized. Her godparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Hanft. On June 28th the child of William Pandak, Jr. and Lisa Hill Pandak, William Pandak III, received the sacrament of Holy Baptism. His godparents are Mr. and Mrs. Mark McChezney. Marriage—2nd Lt. Sándor Tordai and Joann Jordan were married on June 13th. Witnesses were Imre Tordai and Donna Jordan. Funerals—On June 8th Mr. Sándor Lenard, on June 29th Mrs. Pauline Seker and Mrs. Elizabeth Svacak, on July 3rd Miss Verna Kovács and Mr. Carl Farkas, on July 8th Mr. Andrew Menhart, on July 13th Mrs. Helen Ungvary and Mrs. Mary Pupinszky, on July 24th Mrs. Florence McTighe and Mr. George Timko, on July 31st Mr. Albert Pustay, on August 3rd Mr. George Blaskovitz, on August 24th Mr. John Maruska and Mr. Harold Bechtel and on August 27th Mrs. Mary Klujber, were buried. The Rev. Imre Bertalan, the president of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, visited our church and preached the Word of God on August 16th. In the parsonage the old and faulty oil heater was replaced with a new gas heating system at the cost of $5,000.00. Also new carpeting was purchased. An American Flag was donated to our church by Mr. and Mrs. William Ford in memory of Mr. Sándor Lenart. Our organizations resumed their activities in the month of September. MIAMI, FLORIDA After 15 years of independence on August 23, 1981 our Congregation rejoined the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, "which is a historical Reformed Christian Church, a part of the one holy catholic church of our Lord Jesus Christ and the American offspring of the Reformed Church in Hungary. The Right Rev. Tibor Dömötör, Deputy Bishop— Dean of the Western Classis accepted our Congregation into the fellowship of the Classis and the Denomination. On August 25th at a joint meeting of the Board of Elders and the Ladies Aid a “clean slate" was given by the Deputy Bishop, to all the leaders and the members of the Congregation, to start a new fellowship life in the local Church and in the Denomination. 90% of the leaders and the members accepted the “clean slate” and the same time determined to work for God’s Kingdom, the Denomination and for our Congregation. Praise God for this His blessing! Our pastor and the Congregation for many years sponsored the International Cultural Series of Miami, the Women Cancer Association’s Christian Bazaar, The Art Festival of the City of Miami Beach. Sala Anna testvérünk férje Sala grnő emlékére új egyházi táblát adományozott egyházunknak 1,500 dollár értékben. Templomunk parkolóját betonnal öntettük le, hogy az őszi és téli parkolást megkönnyítsük egyháztagjaink számára. Teljes erővel készülünk október 24-i bazári vásárunkra. In our Church the Lord’s Supper is served seven times a year, the Church service begins at 11 a.m. every Sunday and holiday. After the worship a delicious Hungarian style dinner is served in the Hungarian Hall. Approaching Events: Grape-festival, October 11. Worship service at 11 a.m. followed by a delicious Hungarian style dinner and dance. — The 25th Anniversary of the Hungarian Freedom Fight of October 23, 1956 will be remembered on October 25, 1981. Worship service at 11 a.m. followed by a patriotic program and dinner in the Hungarian Hall. Reformation Sunday November 1st. Worship service and communion from 11 a.m. ROEBLING, NJ On September 16, 1981, a first child, Melissa Ann, was born to Nancy and Ted D'Annunzio, Melissa is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bartha of our church, and Mr. and Mrs. Terige D’Annunzio. She will be baptized on October 25. On September 19, Susan Havas and Richard Scassero were married. Susan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Havas. A dessert party was held by the Women’s Guild on September 21 to honor Theresa Csogi, Betty Genasky, and Helen Bordash for their many years of service to the Guild and the Church. The Youth Group held their first meeting on October 4. Future events include a trip to the movies, and afternoons roller skating and bowling. A project of the Sunday School this year is to w rite a history of our church. The students are interviewing their parents and grandparents, and are collecting pictures and other memorabilia. They are planning to present the finished product to the church in early December. The Women's Guild will have their annual fall stuffed cabbage sale on October 10. The first fall kolbász sale will be October 31. Eltemettük Budai Mihályné testvérünket. 85. hűséges egyháztagunkat. Lelkészünket a ligonieri gyűlésen az Amerikai Magyar Református Lelkész Egyesület alelnökévé választották. Lelkészünk lesz az ünnepi szónoka az akroni magyarság nagy ünnepélyének, melyen az 1956-os magyar szabadságharcról emlékezik meg a város magyarsága. Az elmúlt hónap során a következő nagyobb adományokat kaptuk Lorántffy Otthonunkra: Summerville Norma $5000. — , Berki József $3000. —, Falb Ernő 1000.— és Corn Julianna $1000.— adományoztak. Hálásan köszönjük. Új bor alkalmából november 1-én tartunk úrvacsoraosztást templomunkban, november 2- án Lorántffy Otthonunkban és november 3- án házaknál és kórházakban. GYÜLEKEZETI ÉLET
