MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 PARSONAGE DEDICATION AND MORTGAGE BURNING IN ALLEN PARK, MICHIGAN On Sunday, May 22 the dedication of the new parsonage and mortgage burning was celebrated by the Hungarian Reformed Church in Allen Park, Mich., where Andrew Faragó, chief elder and Ed­mund Vig, president gave a brief summary of the events leading up to this joyful occasion. The present modern church was built in 1965-66 at which time plans for the new parsonage was in­cluded but at that time had to be postponed because of insufficient funds. The plans of building a par­sonage were discussed from time to time and finally in 1975 the congregation accepted the plans of Ste­phen Gaspar architect, Cleveland, Ohio. Construc­tion was awarded to Charter Building Co., c/o Mr. William J. Ungar who completed the project in eight months. The Rev. D. Abraham, pastor of the church moved into the parsonage January 30, 1976. Twelve church members gave 16,500 dollars “interest-free loan” to the church and $50,000 “mortgage” was granted by the Hungarian Reformed Federation, Washington, D.C., which was paid back in full within one year. Thanks and praise to God for His blessings and to our generous members and friends, who helped. Special thanks and tribute was rendered to Mrs. Betty Kish and Mrs. Bessy Fritz and the members of the Hungarian Fair Committee who through the fairs Parsonage mortgage burning in Allen Park, Michigan 1977 May 22. Abraham, Mrs. Rose Faragó, Mrs. Betty Kish, and Andrew Faragó chief elder. raised $29,000 and $27,000 dollars respectively in two years for the new parsonage mortgage reduction fund. The total cost of construction was $87,000 dollars with the extra expenses of landscaping the grounds, and installation of an automatic sprinkling system, etc., the total cost is estimated approximately one hundred thousand dollars. The church members can rightly be proud of the new parsonage which is a very good investment for the future anad adds considerable compliment to the church property.
