A memorial service was held on Friday, September 24 at the Peppier Funeral Home in Bordentown. The funeral service was held on Saturday, September 25 at the church, with interment at Colonial Memorial Park in Trenton. May her family be comforted in this difficult time with the knowledge of God’s eternal love. In early fall we had some renewal done in the church hall. The Lorantffy Guild bought a new stove for the kitchen while the Women’s Guild arranged for the painting of the kitchen. The new stove was inaugurated at the Stuffed Cabbage Sale of October 9 in which the women made a $257.03 profit for their many hours of labor. The following day, October 10, many of our women responded to an invitation from the women in Trenton for a social get-together. From all reports it was a most enjoyable afternoon. Sunday School has been in full swing since September with Mrs. Helen Bordash, Mrs. Elizabeth Soltész and Mrs. Michelle Scott as teachers. This year a new class was added, the P.C.C., or Post Confirmation Class, in which newly confirmed youth are given advanced instruction from Rev. Patch. This fall we also have a Confirmation Class of several boys who meet each Sunday following worship service at 11:30 A.M. We look forward to events in November which will include a church dinner on November 7 and a kolbász sale on November 20. These events, among others, will he reported in the next issue. TRENTON, N. László Hunyady, respectively. A 38 member group from our church made a bus trip to Akrop, Ohio on September 25 to visit the Lorantffy Center. The trip was enjoyed by everyone, and the beauty and the warm home-like atmosphere of the Lorantffy Center deeply impressed all of us. It is to the credit of the local minister, Rev. Tibor Dömötör that this Hungarian nursing home could be built. Our ladies aid, the Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Society, donated $100.00 to the Lorantffy Center. Bible study. On October 4 there was a meeting of the Women’s Guilds of our sister churches in our church to discuss the possibility of having a monthly Bible study for the interested members of the Guilds. This meeting was called together by Mrs. Margaret Connor, the president of the Church Women United of our Eastern Classis. Rev. Kovács gave a few guidelines concerning a proper Bible study, and also Dr. Harsanyi contributed to the discussion with his very valuable remarks. It was decided that each month there will be an interguild Bible study, and also each Guild will start its weekly Bible study locally. Catechism instruction is conducted by our pastor every Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 for unconfirmed children of age 12 and over. Their confirmation will be at next Pentecost. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO The Youngstown congregation celebrated their 50th Anniversary on October 24, 1976. On this day, in fact through the whole year, the members of the congregation expressed their Thanksgiving toward Almighty God. During the past 50 years the congregation felt the grace of God more than once. The congregation officially was founded on January 10, 1926. In the same year, on November 25, Thanksgiving Day, the church “basement,” which was to serve as temporary sanctuary was dedicated. In 1936, the church property was put on “Sheriff Sale.” But with the help of God, everything turned to better. On March 21, 1948, Palm Sunday, the church proper was dedicated. In 1961 the Educational building was erected and dedicated. During the past 50 years the congregation had to endure many hardships, but at the same time their faith in God can be seen. In the few examples above this faith is mirrored. On the 50th Anniversary church service the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, Hon. Bishop, preached in Hungarian, the Rt. Rev. Dezső Abraham, Bishop, in English. During the service the members of the congregation presented a new robe to the pastor. The new robe was put on the shoulders of the pastor by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Zoltán Beky, Hon. Bishop, who almost 20 years ago ordained him. After the church service, at Calvin Center, the banquet was held. During the banquet the Rt. Rev. Dr. Zoltán Beky, Hon. Bishop was the Hungarian and Judge Charles Henderson the English main speaker. During the supper we burned our mortgage paper. We have repaid the mortgage taken for the Educational Building to the Hungarian Reformed Federation of Ametica. The dinner was prepared by the members of our sister church. We would like to express our thanks to the pastors, delegates, members of the congregation and Committees, for their help for making possible to celebrate this date. Preparing for the 50th Anniversary we had the inside and outside of the church painted, the steps sandblasted, and many other work done. So our church and our building are in the best possible condition. On Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day, at the Our Lady of Hungary Roman Catholic Church an Ecumenical service was held. All the Hungarian churches in our city took part in the service.
