MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 7 MAGYAR CHURCH DOES THE CHURCH NEED SUNDAY SCHOOL? Among the many institutions and organizations of the Christian church Sunday School is one of the most important movements that changed the hearts and lives of millions. With September here, and the opening of public schools and other institutions of learning the Sunday Schools of our churches will open their doors waiting for young and old to come and take advantage of the opportunity to deepen their Christian faith and conviction. The bible lessons are graded for various age groups from nursery and kindergarten to adults. Yes, Sunday School is not only for the little children but it is for adults also. In churches where everybody takes their Christian responsibilities seriously boys and girls, young men and women, single and married and those whose hairs have turned to silver learn together the marvelous teachings of our Heavenly Father and His holy son our Savior. Church leaders, pastors and elders are all happy to see regular Sunday School pupils and teachers return after the summer vacation. But more and more people should be involved in our program of Christian education: parents should remember the oath taken at the baptism of their children, when they promised to do everything possible to bring up their children in the nurture and admonishion of the Lord until the time when they shall make an open confession of their faith. Often children love to come to Sunday School if only parents would take time and opportunity to bring them. Do not neglect the teaching of your faith and religion to your children for the time may not be given to you and later on many parents are sad and grieved, that their children easily fall prey to the lures of modern paganism and godlessness. Oh, how some parents can cry, when their children follow the path of evil and learn from the wrong kind of friends how to commit crime, live on drugs and become victims of juvenile delinquency, all because the parents did not take time to bring them to church and Sunday School when they were little children. It is not enough to educate the mind of the future generation you should take care of their character, the spiritual nurture and growth of our future leaders of society and our nation. In our Sunday Schools the children learn and study God’s holy word, the Bible! In our classes we try to impress the minds of everyone to he doers of the word of God and remain not only hearers. We teach them to love God with all their heart, with all their mind, and with all their strength and to love their fellowmen as themselves. Yes, Sunday School teachers and children are happy when they sing together and pray together for they know, that our Heavenly Father’s love surrounds them everywhere as they travel together towards the heavenly kingdom of our gracious God. Dear Christian Parents, church members don’t you think it is a privilege to attend Sunday School classes in your church, and you ought to come?
