MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 9 NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO Baptism: On June 1st, during the Hungarian worship service we baptized Robert Martin Király the newly born child of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Király. May God bless richly the newly bap­tized child and his parents, godparents and grandparents. Wedding. On July 5, Saturday our minister and the Rev. Dr. László Ha­rangi blessed the marriage of Arpad Batizy and Michelle Murdack. May God bless the newly married richly with His heavenly and earthly blessings. Picnic: Our annual musical church picnic will be held in the beautiful Ridgewood Park (3142 Ridgewood Road, Copley) on August 10th, Sunday afternoon. We cordially invite our friends and the members of our sister churches. ALLEN PARK, MICH. During the summer months the fol­lowing guest ministers served in our church: Donald Alex Vesprémi, Rev. Sándor Zoltán from Transylvania, Rev. László Hunyady from Linden, N. J., Rev. Mihály Diószegi, Hungarian Greek Catholic clergyman from Acsád Hun­gary, the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Dzsu­­p.n of Lincoln Park, and the Very Rev. Tibor Tóth, Dean, our pastor emeritus, from Daytona Beach, Fla., who substi­tuted during the vacation of the pastor. The Golden Circle Club had an “old fashioned picnic” at the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kollár, where everyone enjoyed their Hungarian hospitality. The Men’s Guild and the Golden Circle Club sponsored the annual church picnic on July 13th in Cham­paign Park. Thanks to all hard working members and those who in any way contributed to its success. The Bazaar and Bake Sale, Fish Fry etc., of the Ladies Aid Society in May was again very successful, thanks to all who worked very hard, and patronized the affair. Total profit was $2,400 dol­lars. The 10th Anniversary of the building of our present church edifice in Allen Park, will be celebrated on September 21. Please mark this date on your calen­dar. Our church members, who are visiting relatives and friends in the “Old Coun­try”: Mrs. Ethel Török and daughter Mrs. Sophie Lock, Mrs. Julia Danko, Mr. Dave Varga and daughter, Miss Dora Szabó, your pastor and his wife. On June 15 the English language worship service was conducted by mem­bers of the Sunday School. This was their last regular session until Septem­ber. Forty-two Sunday School members received “Cross and Crown” attendance awards. Mrs. Irene Lukach received the highest “number”: she has been teach­ing for 22 consecutive years. The ser­vice was closed with this “Memo for Summer”: There is no vacation from faith, from the love of God, and from doing good. A bus load of Sunday School children had a delightful trip to the Shrine Cir­cus on June 7. The Central Jersey Shrine Club sponsored the trip. Ar­rangements were made by Elder Ste­phen Comba, Sr. “The Big Mac Bus” provided another opportunity for instructive fun. This especially equipped luxury bus took 16 members of our Youth Fellowship to Old Rhineback Aerodrome in New York State. The Junior Womens Guild is plan­ning a Fashion Show to be held Sep­tember 15 in Bethlen Hall. Baptisms: Kimberley Jane, daughter of John Eugene Kovács and his wife, the former Patricia Jane Sipos; god­parents: James and Carol Hendenberg. Lisa Anne, daughter of Julius Joseph Lengyel and his wife, the former Linda Louise Parsons; godparents: George Sloan and Mrs. Wendy Bucsak. Funerals: Mrs. Michael Kovács, Sr. (Irene Gyiire) on May 21; Mrs. Berta­lan Szabó (Lea Tóth) on June 7. Pastor Dr. Andrew Harsanyi and Frank Vérségi, Secretary of the Church Council, represented the Carteret Church at the Constitutional Assembly. John Nemish was present ex-officio as chief elder of the Church. DUQUESNE, PA. Baptism: Gary Stephen Bence II, son of Mr. Gary Stephen Bence and his wife, the former Kimberly Charles, on June 29. Godparents were Robert and Carla Bence. Funeral: Mrs. Sophie Nagy, a resi­dent of Bethlen Home, honorary mem­ber of our congregation May 27. Inter­ment followed in our cemetery. Sunday School picnic was held on June 14 in our cemetery park. Our Women’s Club will sponsor an all-day bus tour to Warren, Ohio on July 27. Harvest-Home Communion will be ob­served on August 3rd. Vacation Bible School will be held August 4-8. Guest speakers during the Pastor’s vacation were: Rev. Kalman Csia, Rev. Sándor Mészáros, and the Right Rev. Louis Nagy. The Rev. Kalman Gondocz provided pastoral service. McKeesport, pa. The church council on July 8 ap­pointed a committee to make arrange­ments for black-topping of the area be­hind the church building. The Women’s Guild is participating in the Bicentennial Celebration spon­sored by the city of McKeesport. They have a booth in downtown every third Saturday of the month. They have also taken part in the Good-Neighbor Day, on June 21. The Women’s Guild is sell­ing food and baked goods. On June 8th the graduates were honored. Mrs. Betty Balogh on behalf of the Women’s Guild presented them with a gift. The graduates are: Daniel Arokhaty, Richard Austin, Michael Ba­kos, David Brindza, Kimberly Canelle, Valerie Canelle, Kenneth Gerzsenyi, Russel Gibson (College), John J. Orosz, Lynn Serfozo (College), Lynn Ukasik, Ronald Vosar. On Father’s Day, June 15 we had a combined worship service at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Father’s Day Dinner at 12:00 noon. It was sponsored by the Youth Fellowship. Our young people were invited to a youth conference sponsored by the Homestead church on June 1. They accepted the invitation. The Youth Fellowship has a project­­night every Monday at 6:30 p.m. They are making different kinds of crafts to sell. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brindza are helping them with new ideas. We had our Summer Bible School from June 16 to 21. It was well at­tended.
