12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ is excluding rentals, church dinners, etc.—again were higher than in the previous year. The church mortgage— thanks to a generous gift of more than $10,000 from the Lorantffy Society— was fully paid; the church is now debtless. Various gifts and donations, including General Fund, Classis, Mission projects, Magyar Egyház, amounted to $2,169.- The church has two women’s societies, a Men’s Sick Benefit Society, a Christian Youth Fellowship and sponsors a Boy Scout Troop and a Sea Scout Ship. Officers for 1975 are the following: Leonard Sendelsky chief elder, Béla Kántor vice chief-elder, Frank Vérségi secretary, Walter Kovács treasurer, Mrs. Helen Sheridan financial secretary. All elders retiring in compliance with the rotation system were re-elected except for Alexander Peter who declined candidacy because of a new work-schedule; he was commended for his many years of faithful service as an elder. Frank Alexái was elected alternate elder. Pastor Dr. Harsanyi participated in the meeting of the North American Council of the Reformed World Alliance, held early in January at Chateauguay, Quebec, Canada, where he gave a report on the ongoing work of the Roman Catholic-Reformed/Presbyterian Consultation; he is head of the Reformed/Presbyterian delegation. He was also the Reformed panelist at a seminar on bi-laterals held in Philadelphia by the Cardinal’s Commission on Human Relations. DUQUESNE. PA. Baptisms: Tracy Ann, a daughter of Louis E. Ouillette, and his wife, the former Patricia E. Demes. Godparents were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Demes Jr. on February 9th. Jeffrey Louis, a son of Nicholas A. Fuller and his wife, the former Anita L. Tornai. Godparents are: Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Perry, on March 2nd. Timothy James, a son of James J. Lewis and his wife, the former Lynda K. Faust. Godparents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cross Jr. and Miss Judy Lewis. Funerals: Joseph Fabian, a lifelong member of our congregation on February 8th. Interment followed in our cemetery. Kalman Vörösmarty, another lifelong member of our congregation, on February 14th. Our Annual Congregational Meeting was held on the last Sunday of January. The entire slate of officers were reelected unanimously. In addition we elected John Estu to be our assistant elder to serve with Robert Szepesi. New council members elected were Gary Bence, William Kennedy, William Kovac and Joseph Walker. 150 members of our congregation received communion on the first Sunday in Lent, February 16th. McKeesport, pa. Our Annual Congregational Meeting was held on January 26. Ladies with right of discussion: Betty Balogh, Ethel Gorum, Norma Jordanhazy, Betty Nagy, and Margaret Panko. Financial report: Total income in 1974: $70,128.31; expenses: $57,436.37; Balance for 1975: $12,691.94; Donated by the Ladies: $8,000.00; Donated by Activity Club: $2,000.00; Total in January 1975: $22,691.94. Paid to mortgage in 1974: $18,336.60 regular monthly payment; $12,000.00 extra payment; $30,336.60 total payment in 1974. The Congregational Meeting gave instruction to the church council to update the minister’s salary. The Congregational Meeting honored Mr. William Orris Sr. with the title of honorary elder. Our Youth Fellowship will host a combined meeting with the youth fellowships of the Duquesne and Hazelwood churches on February 23, at 2:00 P.M. The Lord’s Supper was served on February 16. Funeral service for Mr. Steve Knapp, 90, was held on February 10. He was born in Szatmar Vm., 1885. Nancy J. Chomos was one of the five students to achieve a perfect 9.00 grade average for the Fall, 1974 semester at Peru State College, Nebraska, and was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll. Congratulation. TRENTON, N. J. Our congregational meeting was held on January 26th. Income of the church treasury in 1974 was $60,541.48. Balance from 1973: $52,362.67. Interest on saving funds: $598.10. Total income in 1974: $113,502.25. Total expenses in 1974: $50,789.87. Balance on December 31, 1974: $62,712.38. In 1974 we had 18 baptisms, 12 confirmations, 16 weddings and 37 funerals. Large-scale renovation projects in 1974 were the remodeling of the second floor kitchen in the school with the $5,000.00 donation of the Women’s Guild, and repainting and decorating of the auditorium. Also, in 1974 we commemorated the 80th anniversary of our church. The congregational meeting established a pension fund for our minister. Members of the church council in 1975. Kenneth Ture and Mrs. Ronald Ture. On February 2nd the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bocskay, Elizabeth Ann, was baptized. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller. Funeral. Mr. Stephen Vágott, a former elder of our church, was buried on January 31st.
