12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ Weddings: Richard Michael Skiocki and Elaine Elizabeth Acs on September 7. This was an interfaith wedding in which the bridegroom’s pastor, Father Donald Gantley from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church fully participated. — Randall Ernest Kijula and Jacqueline Hodash on September 27. DUQUESNE, PA. Our Youth Fellowship elected the following officers for 1975-76: Cathy Kennedy, president-treasurer; Lynne Sabo, vice president-secretary. Plans were made for 1975-76, such as Bible study, projects for the church’s benefit, moneymaking projects to finance their going to the conferences, and entertainment possibly in cooperation with youth groups of other Hungarian Reformed churches of the Pittsburgh area. Plans for a periodical news-letter are also in the making. Our Women’s Club hosted a Salad Bar and Card Party on October 19th with great success. Members also got together to make noodles. On Election Day lunch and dinner were prepared and served by members to the general public. Our Fall Fellowship Dinner was held on October 26th. The theme was in the spirit of the congregation’s 65th anniversary in 1975, and in preparation for its 75th, ten years from now. Expensive repairs were made during the fall season. The old sidewalk was replaced with a new one, the roofs and some of the stairs of the church buildings were also repaired. More than 20 years of wear and tear necessitated these repairs. The Kitchen Expansion Committee met in October the first time with an expert from an area-firm to make preliminary plans. We hope that in the near future we will be able to execute these plans after congregational approval, so that we may recapture some of the lost enthusiasm of our workers caused by close quarters. McKeesport, pa. The Lord’s Supper was served on October 5. On September 21 our Women’s Guild sponsored a pleasant autobus trip to Ligonier. Mrs. Edith Rausch was in charge. More than sixty members and some friends participated in this trip. We visited the Children’s Home, the Bethlen Press’ new building and the Old Age Home. After the successful International ViUage in August our Women’s Guild sponsored a Bi-centennial Booth on September 20 in downtown McKeesport where food and baked goods were sold. On October 11 they held a Garage Sale in the hall of the church. Mrs. Joseph Szarka and Mrs. Julius Bakos were in charge. October 19: Sausage sale. The Women’s Guild is preparing for the annual Salad Bar and Card Party to be held on November 11. Mrs. John Kontz joined our church. A six-piece black parament set for funeral use was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jeremias in memory of their son-in-law, Ernest Fazekas who died on September 5, 1973. Funeral Services were held for Mrs. Esther Fedran on October 11. She was born in 1887, Vajdácska, Hungary. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The past month was one of the busiest months in our church for more than a year. Activities were under way in every organization, except our Sunday School which had to be reorganized, or we should say restarted. We attempted to solve our problem by sending out a questionnaire to our members in which we asked them to freely express their opinion on matters involving the Christian Education of our children, and find out, what they think of the possibility of the future of our church without proper education of our youth. Some letters were returned and our monthly church council meeting will discuss the results. Also the past month was one of the most productive months in marriages for a long time. Every Saturday we had a couple in front of God and the congregation promising love and unity to each other in our church. Concerning the repairing of our school we must report that the work has not yet started, due to previous jobs accepted by the painter at the Perth Amboy General Hospital. On the first Sunday in October we participated in World Wide Communion with our brothers and sisters in Christ all over this world. Participation in the elements was satisfactory. Our guest minister for this occasion was Reverend Gabor Nitsch who formerly served the church in Roebling and is presently studying in the New Brunswick Theological Seminary. On the second Sunday in October we participated in the Eastern Classis Meeting in Bethlehem, Pa. The month of October also marked the birth of new cultural ventures around our church as well. Two new organizations have started in the hope of discovering and fostering our rich Hungarian heritage. One of these is the Junior Folk Dance Ensemble. As we mentioned in earlier issues, we had a youth dance group, but as a new addition, we started a new couples group as the Senior Dance Ensemble. The other new addition to our organizations is a Hungarian Embroidery Class which is led by Mrs. Yolanda Benga and is held every Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The interest in the Hungarian Embroidery classes was overwhelming. At the last few classes more than 30 of our members and friends participated. On Sunday, October 11 our Women’s Guild had one of their most successful Grape Festival “Szüreti Mulatság”. Our noodle and kolbász and pickling also has started sponsored by the Senior Women’s Club. In the hope that God provides the strength and ability, we look forward to continuing all these undertakings. Vital statistics.
