MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15 Confirmation of the following child­ren took place on Mother’s Day at the English worship service: Joyce Archer, Maryanna Czikora, Darren Harrison, Robin Reedy, Louis Suytinszky, and Julia Toth. They attended the Lord’s Supper on Pentecost, for the first time. Baptism: The child of Mr. and Mrs. William Vágott, Allan Andrew Stephen, was baptized on April 29th. Godpar­ents: John Bloking and Miss Pearl Balia. Wedding: John Szarka and Maryann Swope were united in marriage on April 22nd. Funerals: April 13, Martin Brack; April 18, Mrs. Grace Kochis; April 19th, Mrs. Ethel Molnár; May 1, Mrs. Andrew Batar; May 2, Mrs. Imre Pus­kas and May 12, August Johnson. The Scholarship Fund-Raising Dance of the Men’s Club was very successful on May 6th. The club awards scholar­ships every year to High School gradu­ates who will continue their studies in colleges. The conference of the Eastern area women’s groups in New York on May 7th was attended by 38 women from our church. We traveled by bus. Mrs. Ann Lenart, the president of our Wo­men’s Guild, was elected the new pres­ident of the Eastern Division United Church Women. The Eastern Classis’ annual meeting was held in Bethlehem, Pa. Our chief elder, Mr. Joseph Jenei, was elected as one of the commissioners to the General Assembly of the denomination. At the ordination and installation of the Rev. Stefan Torok in Roebling our congregation was represented by 35 church members. Our Sunday School children and their parents will go to New York to visit the Ringling Barnum Circus on May 20th. We will go by bus. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO On Sunday, April 30th, we held Radio Sunday in our church. The Rev. Leslie Borsay, pastor of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Warren, Ohio proclaimed the Gospel during both services. The pastor of our church ser­ved in Warren, Ohio. The Annual Mother’s Day dinner was sponsored by the Youth Group. It was the most successful Mother’s Day dinner. Our hall almost was too small to accommodate everyone. Those who were confirmed during the church ser­vice, were the guests of the Youth Group. During the English service on Pen­tecost the following newly confirmed young people took communion for the first time: Hargita E. Adorján, Sally A. Berkinyi, David M. Chepke, Laurie L. Chepke, Robert D. Chepke, Tami S. Chepke, Linda A. Frank,s Cheryl L. Kramer, Mary L. Pallay and James A. Ramps. YOUTH NEWS REPORT From the Eastern Area Youth Conference — April 16, 1972 The Eastern Area youth organiza­tions like to gather together from time to time, at least once in every three months. Lately, these conferences, like many other similar programs are not as well attended as they used to be. Due to the fact that each organization goes through the problem of “age-gap”, the older young people either get mar­ried or leave the youth fellowships be­cause they go away to college, so until the new youth groups reorganize, their activities and programs suffer. The theme at this spring conference, which was held in Carteret, N. J., was “Today’s Man and Woman in the Home, at Work, and in the Church”. It was discussed under the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Ullersberger. They talked frankly about the many prob­lems people face today in our modern society as parents, children, and mem­bers of the family. They discussed the issues of the “generation gap”, when older men and women find it difficult to understand the children and youth today. The issues of “patriotism”, col­lege “protests”, the problems of “dress code”, “drugs”, etc. were mentioned. They talked about the creation of man and woman, that they were equal, and both should carry the responsibili­ties. Special attention was given to the “women’s lib” movement. There are women who must work, and others who only do so because of boredom. They discussed the many new job opportuni­ties that are open for women today. “Personally, I disagree with the over­all platform of Women’s Lib”, said Mrs. Elsie Ullersberger. “Yes, I work part­­time, but my family or home were never neglected. I enjoy being a wife and a mother first. I also think, that the two sexes have different thresholds of pa­tience and strength. The women win out with patience and men with strength”. Finally, when they touched upon the subject of “man and woman in the Church”, they agreed that “the Bible makes it clear, that Jesus vigorously promoted the dignity and equality of women in the midst of a male domi­nated society.” They showed towards the solution of many questions, that in the future, there will be greater par­ticipation by women in the churches. The future of our country and church depends upon our young people today. Érdek­lődőknek szívesen adunk felvilágosítást a 666-9978 telefonszámon. Ifjúsági csoportunk résztvett az Észak Ohio területén levő magyar református Ifjúsági Találkozón Clevelandban. A WZAK rádió állomáson rendszere­sen folytatódnak magyar istentiszteleti közvetítéseink. Lelkészünk május 18-án esperesi lá­togatást végzett a duquesnei gyülekezet­ben és résztvett a presbiteri gyűlésen. Temetés: Május 18-án délután a Kertész Temetkezési Intézetből temet­tük el Koronczay Júliát, élt 76 évet. ALLEN PARK, MICH.
