12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ Our adversary, the devil has much power too, so the Lord our Savior must have greater power than Satan, and He does, and promises to deliver us from the bondage of sin, and from the power of the devil. Then again, HIS NAME be called EVERLASTING FATHER! The Greek translation indicates, that our Lord is the “Father of the future age!” Regardless how we try to interpret it, the Bible here denotes eternity. The kingdom of our Lord lasts perpetually. He is a Mighty God, and King for ever and ever. Civilizations existed before, and people have disappeared from the face of this earth, but for the kingdom of our Lord “there shall be no end”. We know from other prophecies in the Bible, that our Lord shall come again to judge the living and the dead and He shall bestow immortality on all His disciples, thus all those who are His followers will pass from death to everlasting life. Then, the coming Messiah will be called the “PRINCE OF PEACE”. This is the last title that Isaiah mentions in the Bible, but it seems the most meaningful to man. Yes, Jesus Christ shall come and bring His peace to the troubled minds and this disturbed world. The Bible relates, that God’s children, will find a quiet life and maintain blessed obedience to the Master. The contrary is true, that without Christ, there is restlessness, and misery. What kind of peace does the Bible mention here? What is the nature of the peace of Christ, which He brings to His people at Christmas? This peace of God resides chiefly in the conscience. Outside all around us the storm of life may reap havoc and others might be tremendously disturbed, but a child of our Heavenly Father will have peace of mind and quietness in his heart. Paul expressed it thus: “When we are justified by faith, we have peace with God!” Christ Jesus is the complete and total peace, that leaders of the world need today. He can bring peace into every heart and soul. With Christ you can endure hardships, trials and persecutions; in this faith many have sacrificed their lives and became martyrs of the church of God. Today, in our modem age, when wars are on a scale, which was unknown before, and the destructive power of the atomic bomb is so devastating, that escape from the trials awaiting us seems inevitable, let us remember that we have a SAVIOR, whose name is called Wonderful Counsellor, who can counsel us far beyond the ability of our human understanding; when we are weary, worn and sad, let us recall, that we have a Savior, who is Highty God and all powerful; and when we have no peace in our hearts and we are tossed about in our spirit, and nothing seems certain, let us remember, that our Lord is the Prince of Peace, and He alone can fulfill all His promises. His name and fame grows with each passing moment. Sing praises unto Him, magnify Him with all the children of our Heavenly Father;— let His name fill your heart and soul, at this Christmas and forever! Bishop D. Abraham Today, peace should reign, It should be the Messiah’s day, If but the world would turn to heaven And would accept its salvation! This should be the day for men To embrace their fellowmen! But there is no gratitude, no peace, The world is sick, it just might cease! The heart has stopped, the soul has left, Flesh alone has desire and zest! Herod, everywhere, is the boss, Yet the truth belongs to the cross! Man is lost, with no safe haven, Since he employed lenses in search of heaven. Cursed is the coming of the Prince of Peace The world is sick, it just might cease! Men war against men, Unity of thought, there is none! The Messiah’s home has been destroyed, His moral teachings have been refused! But he, who with a soul has been blessed, Animally can find no rest! Almighty heaven, the world, a new Saviour needs! The world is sick, it just might cease! Written by Endre Ady — 12-23-1899 Transliterated by Hugo Pfahler — 1972
