Thanksgiving communion was celebrated on November 19. The Annual Congregational Dinner, on October 29, was another affair splendidly organized, well attended and much enjoyed. Short addresses were given by the Rev. Stephen Kovács (Trenton) commemorating the Reformation, Judge Alex B. Eger speaking on the revision of the constitution of our church, and Pastor Dr. Andrew Harsanyi reporting on the new phase of the Reformed-Roman Catholic Consultation the theme of which is “The Shape of the Unity We Seek.” Children of the Sunday School enjoyed a gay Halloween Party. The Junior Women’s Guild will have a Christmas Party in Bethlen Hall on Thursday, Dec. 7 with a buffet-supper, music and dance. Guests are welcome. Funerals: William Kocsi, Sr., 59 and George Balazs, 75. The grave-marker of Mrs. Esther Piszar was dedicated in Cloverleaf cemetery. DUQUESNE, PA. On Sept. 24th the Rt. Rev. Arpad George, the National Secretary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America was our guest minister. Baptism: William Brian Horvath, son of William Horvath and his wife, the former Mildred Ulakovic. Godparents are Steve Ulakovic and Janet Düpier. Wedding: Andrew R. Peclet and Sandra Lee Gizzi exchanged vows in our church on October 21st. Witnesses were William Matuch and Janet Ferencé. New member: on October 1st we welcomed Sandy Gizzi to the membership of our congregation. We celebrated Thanksgiving Communion on November 19th. Our annual Stewardship Fellowship Dinner was held on November 5th. A “Christmas Bazaar” was held by our Women’s Club. The Youth Fellowship’s members were in charge of the kitchen and refreshments. Our congregation participated in the following events, organized by the Hungarian Reformed Churches of Pittsburgh and vicinity: Reformation Day Service, in Pittsburgh, Grape Harvest Festival for the benefit of the Hungarian Reformed Radio Program, held at the Free Magyar Reformed Church of McKeesport, Workers’ Conference at United H.R. Church of McKeesport, and a Youth Conference held at the Free Magyar Ref. Church of McKeesport. McKeesport, pa. The 50th anniversary of our church was observed on Sunday, Oct. 22. Both the anniversary worship service and banquet were well attended. Our many thanks to all the committees for their fine and good work. The entire occasion was an excellent example of cooperation by so many — young and old alike. Most of our founders have passed away. At the 50th anniversary we congratulated the living founders and asked Almighty God to continue to bless them. These founders are: Mrs. Andrew Biro, Mrs. John Biro, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bakos, Mr. and Mrs. John Darnay, Mr. and Mrs. Aron Fazekas, Mrs. Menyhért Fejes, Mr. Andrew Fustos, Mr. and Mrs. Bertalan Juhasz, Mrs. Louis Kerti, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Olah, Mrs. Joseph Molnár, Mrs. Sándor Nagy, Mrs. John Simon, Mr. John Szucs, Mrs. Frank Toth, Mrs. Michael Toth. A new English pulpit Bible was donated to our church by Mr. and Mrs. William Balogh and family to the glory of God and loving memory of parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gabor Balogh. We are grateful for this beautiful gift. Some of our members attended the Reformation Day Worship Service held in the Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh. Our pastor said the Hungarian prayer. Many of our members were present at the Grape Harvest Festival held for the benefit of the Hungarian Reformed Radio Program. You can listen to this Radio Program every Sunday at 2:45 p.m. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The annual Christmas Bazaar arranged by the Women’s Guild will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3rd. All organizations of the church will participate. The Christian Youth Fellowship meetings are held every Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Second “Sing- Thing” on November 24th, in the Chapel, was well attended. A special Christmas holiday letter will be mailed to our members with the list of the order of services. The new Lord’s Table, in memory of Mr. Andrew Racz, Sr. and the new chancel railing, in memory of Mrs. George Arty, given by their families, were dedicated on November 5th during the Holy Communion service. The New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance Committee invites the members and friends to this year’s social affair. Tickets are available from William R. Schurr, Chairman and Miklós Magyar, Jr. Co-Chairman. The pastor serving over eight years retired and the Church gave a very successful farewell dinner. The president Mr. Louis Kish was the toastmaster and 6 guest ministers with many guest members from their own church shared the very emotional farewell greetings. The Women’s Guild donated a very fine TV set. The spirit of the whole event was really Christian. Deceased: Alexander Szabó, 57 years old, after serving his church over 20 years as a treasurer and certified accountant with exceptional experience. Our Annual Bazaar was a real success with 1.253 dollars clear profit. Again many thanks and appreciation to our very diligent co-workers and to the generous donors. The church had a very fine improvement in different ways. The new steeple is lighted during the whole night with a very strong spotlight. The very old church plaque was exchanged with a very modern new one. The old rails were exchanged with new ones. The church kitchen ceiling was renewed with a very nice new one, also the light was renewed. Many thanks and appreciation to the very active, untiring co-workers. TRENTON, N. J. A Thanksgiving Dinner was held on Nov. 12th for our members and friends. The Rev. August Molnár, the director of the American Hungarian Studies Foundation, preached at both services on Nov. 12th and spoke at the Thanksgiving Dinner.
