10 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ Our minister, as the Dean of the Western Classis, visited our Youngs­town, and Allen Park congregations and attended on the 50th Anniversary celebration of our McKeesport church. On October 23rd, on the 16th An­niversary of the Hungarian Freedom Fight, our minister made a speech be­fore the members of the Mayfair Ki­­wanis Club. ALLEN PARK, MICH. Holy Communion was administered on the occasion of New Bread, August 13. The same afternoon our Pastor preached at groundbreaking services for the Lorantffy Center in Akron. Our church was very well repre­sented at both the Bethlen Youth Federation Conference and at the Presbyters Association. Summer Hungarian School was held for a period of two weeks. Enrollment of 34 children and young people in­cluded 13 from other congregations. To our knowledge this was the only Hun­garian language school in the entire Detroit area. The Pastor was assisted by Mr. Ernest Kaplar. The Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, head of the Bethlen Home, preached at both services on Sept. 17. A well-attended congregational dinner followed the Hungarian language service, October activities included the Dor­cas Guild’s Rummage Sale, the Ladies Aid’s three day Bazaar and the Golden Circle’s autumn dance. The annual “Szüreti Bál” was planned for Novem­ber 4th. A fine group of young people has been rehearsing for their costumed folk dance. The Rev. August J. Molnár, presi­dent of the American Hungarian Stu­dies Foundation, preached here on Sunday, Oct. 15, a day set aside as “Hungarian Heritage Day.” Our Church Register notes that from January 1 to October 2 we have had 23 baptisms, 11 marriages and 13 mem­bers deceased. Members received in­clude 14 young people by confirmation and 14 adults. Baptisms: Aug. 20, Kenneth A. Brockmiller, Aaron R. Erdélyi, Kristina M. Erdélyi; Aug. 27, Julia I. Hudock; Sept. 17, Christine M. Redmer, Derie C. Wilkins; Oct. 1, Edward N. Clikard, Tina M. Rumney, Ilene D. Rumney. Deaths: Anthony R. Brace died on Aug. 29; Ethel Pallay died on Sept. 17; John Sidell died on Oct. 1. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. New Member: On Aug. 13 we wel­comed Mrs. Wilma M. Kacso to the communicant membership of our con­gregation. The Fall season brought along the resumption of the various organization­al activities in the church. Sunday School has over 60 members in the departments from Nursery to Junior High; the two confirmation classes have 12 youngsters from 7th and 8th grades. The two women’s associations are busy with their regular programs. In addition the Junior Women’s Guild sponsored a Fashion Show on October 8. It was a colorful event attended by some 200 people but most important about this affair was the splendid co­operation of about 40 women and girls under the leadership of Mrs. Helen Sheridan, Guild president. Pastor Dr. Harsanyi and his wife at­­tendod the festivities of thanksgiving held on occasion of the completion of the renovation of the Reformed College in Debrecen, Hungary. Dr. Harsanyi also participated in the monthly work­shop-meeting of the Hungarian Re­formed pastors in Yugoslavia. On Sep­tember 24 he preached in the church of the congregation of Buda-hegyvidék in Budapest. During his absence the Rev. Ernest Kosa, U.S. Army Chaplain (Lt. Colonel), from Fort Dix, N. J., supplied the pulpit. The traditional annual congregation­al dinner will take place on Sunday, October 29. DUQUESNE, PA. Baptisms: Cheryl Jean, daughter of David McManus and his wife, the for­mer Shirley Stiver. Godparents are Gerald Davis and Jeanne Bodnar. Wedding: Richard R. Ross and Deborah A. Cheke were married in our church on September 3rd. Funerals: Mrs. Julia Nestor, on October 3rd. Interment followed in our cemetery. Mrs. Irene Nestor, a member of our Women’s Club on October 6th, interment followed in our cemetery. October 27th and 28th we held Hal­loween parties for our Sunday School children, and for members of the Women’s and Men’s Club. On October 1st we celebrated World Wide Communion. McKeesport, pa. On August 6th, the Rt. Rev. Arpad George, the secretary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America was our guest minister. Our young people will hold a con­ference for the youth of the Hungarian Reformed Churches of Western Penn­sylvania on November 26. The Young Adult Fellowship was added to our church organizations. Their officers are: Mr. Ronald Suchant president, Mrs. Joseph Brindzo secre­tary and Mr. John Olyarnik treasurer. Our delegates attended the installa­tion worship service and banquet of the Rev. Paul Kovács, pastor of the Bethle­hem Presbyterian Church, Sharon, Pa. Our new attorney is Mr. Blair J. Harkett. He is the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dudash, long time members of our congregation. Miss Florence Hake and the family of Mr. and Mrs. William Brindza joined our Church Family. We welcome them into our fellowship. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The Women’s Guild had the fall “Interguild social” on Tuesday, Sept. 19th, when the Rev. Imre Bertalan spoke on the theme: “The History of the Hungarian Folk Songs”. Members of the various guilds from the area at­tended the event. The fall “Rummage Sale” by the Guild is scheduled for October 20th and 21st. The Annual Protestant Ball will be held in the Statler Hilton Hotel, New York City on November 10th. Members of our church are planning to attend. The Thanksgiving Day Banquet of our church will be held on Sunday, November 19th.
