Mrs. Margaret Harsanyi, the pastor’s wife was the “celebrity”; Mrs. Betty Matto (who was chairman of the affair) acted as Melba Tolliver, John Nemish as Ralph Edwards and Mrs. Margie Kara as Bess Myerson. Dr. and Mrs. Harsanyi were also honored on the oc­casion of their 30th wedding anniver­sary; Mrs. Violet Nemish and Mrs. Frank Csizmadia, presidents of the two societies congratulated them and pre­sented them with gifts. It was an excel­lently organized program, with love and thoughtfulness—and a total surprise to Mrs. Harsanyi. Baptisms: Michael Joseph Denton, son of Raymond Denton and his wife, the former Elizabeth Mary Legeny, on May 9th; godparents: Kenneth Turner and Mrs. Douglas Crigger. — Sharon Lynn, daughter of Endre Janvari and his wife, the former Mary Weidner, on June 6th; godparents: Joseph and Aranka Balia. John and Helen Nemish celebrated their 40th, Joseph and Margie Kara their 30th wedding anniversary. Funeral: George Vitányi, 69, on May 22nd. DUQUESNE. PA. On Pentecost Sunday 140 communi­cants received the Sacrament. Seven sick and shut-ins received the Holy Elements in their homes and in the hospital. Baptism: Stephen Michael, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Nagy. Godparents were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Demes. Funerals: Mrs. Esther Czap, June 2nd, Mrs. Margaret Kish, June 7th, Karoly Nagy, June 13th, with interment in our cemetery. Church council decided to continue the present schedule of worship services for the entire year. Hungarian Worship Service will be held at 9:45 a.m., Eng­lish at 11 a.m. The Women’s Club elected officers for the 1971-72 term. President is Mrs. Eileen Halpern, vice-president: Mrs. Dorothy Illés, secretary: Miss Sondra Fisher, treasurer: Mrs. Julia Nagy. “Festival of the Grapes” is being plan­ned for September 26th for the benefit of the Hungarian Reformed Radio Program. All Hungarian Reformed churches of the vicinity will participate to make this program a joint venture. McKeesport, pa. Our Mother’s Dinner was a success. We would like to express our thanks to our men for the delicious dinner. Thanks to those who helped us in any way and attended the dinner. The confirmation of Daniel Arokhaty, Patty Balogh, Ricky Austin, Shirley Bertok, Kim Canelle, Valerie Canelle, Ernest Fejes, Donna Gathie, Kenneth Gerzsenyi, Kathleen Hazafi, Karen Ke­lemen, Kathy Kelemen, Mary Jane Ker­ti, Ricky Kliment, Leslie Olson, John Orosz, David Such, Lynne Ukasik and Ron Vozar was held on Sunday, May 23 during the English Worship Service. They lived with the Holy Communion the first time on Pentecost Sunday. May God help these young people to be faith­ful to Jesus Christ, their Saviour and Lord, and to His Church. The groundbreaking of our new church was conducted on Sunday, May 23. At the present time the excavation is being done. Our contractor is Mr. Joseph Molnár. With God’s help, the building will be completed by next sum­mer. A Fund Raising Dinner will be held during the fall. Wedding: Mr. John G. Olyamik and Miss Lois A. Worthy were joined to­gether in holy marriage on Thursday, May 27. May God bless them with love and happiness. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. Our Summer Vacation Bible School was held from June 28 to July 10. Mrs. Lillian Banyacski was the superinten­dent. On Children’s Day, the following chil­dren participated in the service: Nicho­las Katko, Mark Banyacski, Tracy Egry, and Donna Orosz. The Sunday School continues all summer. The 50th Anniversary of the Senior Women’s Club was celebrated on June 13. The Women’s Guild prepared the dinner, which was served by the Church Council and the Christian Youth Fel­lowship. The program (living portraits) was written by Mrs. Helen Bercik, Pres­ident of the Women’s Guild and pre­sented by the members. Five past- Presidents were honored. The annual Family Night Social of the Women’s Guild was held in Roose­velt Park on June 29. The Christian Youth Fellowship show “Sure as You’re Born”, a one-act come­dy, was enjoyed by all who attended. Would any other church like to see it? The annual Conference of the Beth­len Youth Federation will be hosted by the McKeesport, Pa. church. The Church Athletic Federation awarded the championship trophy to our Bowling Team: Captain William Orosz, members Andrew and Joseph Orosz, John Both Jr. and Sr., John Kish. Congratulations! ROEBLING, N, J. The Congregational meeting on May 24th elected the Rev. Stefan Török to be minister of the church. Rev. Török already started his work on June 1st. The renovation of the parsonage was completed, new kitchen, bathroom was installed, and the other rooms were covered with carpet from wall to wall. Total cost over $6,000. The Annual Mother’s Day Dinner was organized by the elders and men of the church. It was very successful. The confirmation class will start in September. First church picnic is scheduled for Sunday, June 27th. Some of our younger teenagers, under 14 years of age, will attend a summer camp in the Pocono Mountains, Penn­sylvania. The older young people are going to attend our church’s Bethlen Youth Con­ference, which will be organized by McKeesport Church on Labor Day weekend. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. Our recently confirmed young peo­ple organized a Young People Club with meetings being held each Mon­day. Carolyn Kosa is their ardent ad­viser. Their activity is very praise­worthy and their cake sale netted even $25. God help them to remain interested and active church members. On Father’s Day a united English- Hungarian worship service was held and followed by a covered dish dinner honor­ing the fathers. Our Sunday School chil­dren recited some poems celebrating the fathers. The well liked annual Strawberry Festival combined with Chinese Auction was on June 25. Diane Bodnar and Filep Limeri joined in holy wedlock. May our Lord bless them with a happy future. Our vice president Mr. Joseph O’Don­nell underwent surgery and he is im­proving. We shall observe our New Bread Communion August 1, Sunday. The Annual Bazaar is the most favor­ite affair of our people. We plan to have it on two Saturdays, September 25 and October 2. We invite all our mem­bers and friends to join us. We ask to sell our chance books.
