MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 been concerned with the needs of others and have contributed most generously to these needs. For instance, we make an annual donation of $720 to the Hungarian Reformed Church in Buenes Aires, Argentina. This is our foreign mission project. The Christian nurture of our children and youth is concentrated in the Sunday School, Confirmation Class, Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Young Adults Fellowships as well as the choir of our church. The Ladies Aid, the Dorcas Guild, the Golden Circle Club, the Men’s Guild are very active organizations of the church and their work and accomplishments in the past year are praiseworthy. We thank God for all his blessings and pray for his help in the days ahead. DUQUESNE, PA. Funeral: Mrs. Anna Pinkovsky, January 30th. Officers for 1970: Chief Elder: Richard Heyz; Hungarian Assistant Elder: Michael Beres; English Assistant Elder: Charles Nagy Jr.; Treasurer: Joseph Voros; Auditor: John Estu; Secretary: Frank Kottán, Jr.; Offering Recorder: Robert Bodnar. Frank Demes was elected as a new member of church council. Church income in 1969 was $28,- 680.39; expenses were $28,123.77. Congregational meeting also formed two committees. The organ committee will study and when possible purchase the new organ for the church. The rules and by-laws committee will revise the denominational book of rules and by-laws. After this study and revision will be completed its recommendations will be submitted to the Bishop’s office. McKeesport, pa. Because of the icy roads only 87 participated in Lernten communion, 7 shut-ins were served as well. We buried Mrs. Elizabeth Pakot in her 81st year. Born in Gacsály, Hungary. We will have Hungarian Services during Lent every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The new minister, the Reverend Barnabas Roczey, will begin his services on March 1. That day the Ladies Aid Society will give a Congregational Dinner in his honor. At this time also the new officers of the Church will be introduced. During Holy Week we will have services every evening. Monday, Thursday and Good Friday evenings in English, on the other evenings in Hungarian. Communion services will be held in English on Maundy Thursday evening, also Easter morning at 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.; in Hungarian on Easter morning at 11:00 a.m. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. On Sunday, March 1st, the Women’s Guild will participate in corporate Holy Communion, in observance of the anniversary of their organization. The World Day of Prayer service will be held in our church on Friday, March 6th, with the participation of all churches in the city; Mrs. Margaret Seemann and Mrs. Elsie Löki are in charge. The Christian Youth Fellowship will sponsor a spaghetti supper on March 8th at 6 p.m. in our center. The March 15th Hungarian Independence Day celebration of our city will be held in the St. Michael’s church auditorium. The re-elected officers of the church council are: John Marincsák president; Andrew Orosz vice president; John S. Kovács, Jr. treasurer; William Orosz secretary. Seven elders were re-elected; Steven Orosz resigned, August Pécsik was elected to fiili the vacancy. The annual Congregational Meeting elected the following elders for officers for the year of 1970: Steven Varga chief elder, Bert Somogyi, Jr. vice chief elder, John Kollar and Allen Birkholz secretaries, Joseph Bartha treasurer, Frank Nagy assistant treasurer and Bert Bartha controller. James Gilanyi, Bert Somogyi, Sr. and Steven Wargo were elected elders. Officers of the Women’s Guild for 1970 are: Mrs. Allen Birkholz president, Mrs. John Genasky vice president, Mrs. James Harkel secretary (331 E. 2nd St., Florence, New Jersey 08518), and Mrs. George Bordash treasurer. Officers of the Christian Youth Fellowship are: David Bartha president, Dorlinda Varga vice president, Michelle Varga secretary and Colleen Trainor treasurer. Our annual Elders’ Dinner was held on Sunday, February 8. The delicious food was prepared by the wives of our elders and also by some of our ladies. The dinner was served by the members of the Youth Fellowship. We express our thanks to all the helpers. VACANCY IN ROEBLING The Roebling, N. J. Church invites applications to fill the pulpit vacancy. STATEN ISLAND, N. Y. At the annual meeting on February 8 the following officers were elected to serve in 1970: Louis Kish president, Albert Kish vice-president, Joseph O’Donnell assistant vice-president, Peter Mackerowski secretary, Steve Nemeth treasurer; John Kosa, Jr. and Alexander Szabó were reelected as elders. Receipts in 1969 (including previous year’s balance) were $12,027.29, expenses $6,767.86. There was 1 baptism, 1 wedding, 2 funerals, 6 young people confirmed. The Women’s Guild will have the following officers in 1970: Mrs. John Lovas president, Mrs. Margaret Knorr vice-president, Mrs. Helen Gans secretary, Mrs. Joseph O’Donnell treasurer. Members of the Guild took communion in a body on the First Sunday in Lent. In 1969, they donated $2,000 to the church, a very substantial and most appreciated gift, indeed. Stephen Rodvansky, father of our former president, passed away on January 17. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO From the Annual Report: receipts in 1969, including the $5,905 balance from 1968, was $29,646, expenses $24,288 (which includes $2,500 transferred to the Savings Account), leaving a balance of $5,358. These figures witness to the willingness of our members to help their church; at the same time, however, the average attendance at worship services and the average of those taking communion has decreased. We still serve the Hungarian Reformed people through the Hungarian Radio now in cooperation with other Hungarian churches in the Mahoning Valley. Radio services can be heard every Sunday night at 7:05 on WPIC-FM radio, 102.9 on your dial. The second part of the service is in English. On February 8th, the Ladies’ Aid held a successful Bingo-party.
