18 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ “What does bother me is not so much our ‘uninhibited youth,’ but our inhibited adults. Every day I meet someone who seems unhappy or frustrated about something.” Dr. Peale finds that many adults are “just plain afraid to be themselves,” while large numbers of young people are finding sources of satisfaction and happiness some adults have not experienced. “There is a great good in the young person today,” he observes. “For one thing, he believes that love and sharing and relationships with other people on an honest basis are necessary for the creation of a better world.” While it is true that millions of young men and women lack positive goals, personal convictions and reasons for living and thus have become “dropouts,” he says, most of them are actively searching for a meaningful way to live. Deploring drugs, drinking and sexual promiscuity, Dr. Peale also pleaded for greater understanding on both sides and called on old and young alike to “get high on God,” beginning with a prayer: “Lord, turn me on. Help me to tune in on life.” “One booklet — isn’t going to change everything,” he concludes, “but it is a start.” * Copies of Tune in on Life may be obtained free of charge by writing Box T, Foundation for Christian Living, Pawling, N. BETHLEN YOUTH CONFERENCE The 31st Annual Conference of the Bethlen Youth Federation will be held from September 3 to September 7 at Camp Minisink at Stillwater, New Jersey. The conference will be hosted by the Christian Youth Fellowship of our Perth Amboy Church. The topic will be “HOW TO BE A CHRISTIAN WITHOUT BEING RELIGIOUS.” It will deal with Christian life and living. It is not enough just to be religious, but a man must live in a wonderful relationship with God, he must trust and believe in Jesus Christ as his peronal Saviour and Lord, and he must follow the steps and teachings of the Master. Those who wish to become familiar with the topic, should read the Book of Romans. The speaker will be Miss May Dooley who is a Junior High School Science Teacher. Formerly she was a staff worker in the New Jersey- New York area for Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship which exists on many College and Seminary campuses throughout the United States. She is a fine speaker and we guarantee that she will be able to communicate to groups of all ages. In addition to the presentation of the topic, there will be worship, devotion, Bible study, workshop, discussion, Christian fellowship and fun. All this will help ministers, advisors, guests and youth to benefit from the conference and to promote their spiritual growth. Come to our conference. Bring your talents. Invite your friends.
