MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 13 AKRON, OHIO During the month of September we reorganized our youth work. On Sep­tember 14th we celebrated “Youth Day.” More than 60 young people at­tended our worship services and our church dinner. With the Pastor’s help, Theodor Szor reorganized our boy scout troop. Our faithful church member, Miss Mary Farkas, became president of the Bethlen Youth Federation. Our chief elder attended the Elders’ Conference in Ligonier. The Rev. Louis Illés, pastor of our Duquesne church, substituted our minister during his short vacation. Our Fellowship Circle started to show Hungarian Movies with great success. According to the decision of the church council we will build a new concrete circle driveway in front of our church. The cost will be more than $3,000. Funerals: Mrs. Alex Barát on Sep­tember 2 and Mrs. Irene Daragó on September 4. We had Holy Communion services on September 28, the occasion was “New Wine”. BETHLEHEM, PA. We resumed our regular schedule on September 21: English service at 9:45 am., Hungarian at 10:30 a.m. The same day we started the Sun­day School and the confirmation class with three students, Tünde Gondocz, David Nemeth and Carol Nemeth. Burial: Sándor Tarnőczy, 86, on September 22. CARTERET, N. J. The Rt. Rev. Sándor Ráski, bishop of the Northern (Cistibiscan) Synod of the Reformed Church in Hungary was the guest preacher on September 7. The Pastor served as his interpre­ter at the English language service. The bishop received a cordial welcome from the congregation; a large num­ber of our people come from congre­gations which are now under Bishop Ráski’s supervision. The Chinese Auction sponsored by the Junior Women’s Guild netted over $800. Mrs. Julia Megyesi, president of the Guild, Mrs. Betty Matto and Mrs. Helen Hamer, co-chairmen of the affair received excellent co­operation from all. Sunday School activities were resumed on September 21 with 52 children registered. Confirmation classes will be attended by 13 young people. Seven young people participated at the national B.Y.F. conference; Miss Clara Kantor was their advisor. A fully renovated Bethlen Hall awaits the guests for the traditional Annual Dinner on November 1. Cost of the renovation was kept within the appropriation of $6,000. Baptism: Kristen Lee, daughter of Edward Michael Sadowski and Nancy Lee Nemish, on August 24. Godpar­­ents;Stephen Farkas and Mrs. Francis Ullersberger. DETROIT-ALLEN PARK, The Benefit Social given by Mrs. Steve Torok and her daughters, Mrs. Sophie Lock and Mrs. Ethel Kovács enriched our church treasury with $1,050.00. We thank these women for this magnificent gift and their loyal service. A committee of five represented our 'church at the Duquesne celebra­tion. Our Fall Bazaar, sponsored by the Ladies’ Aid Society, was held on October 16, 17, and 19. A Rummage Sale sponsored by the Dorcas Guild will be held on Octo­ber 23, the Golden Circle Club’s Au­tumn Harvest Dance on October 25, and a Halloween Party for the child­ren of the Sunday School on October 26 beginning at 2 P.M. The Sacrament of the Lord’s Sup­per will be observed in our church on November 2. The Annual Grape Festival Dance will be held on November 8. DUQUESNE, PA. Baptism: Kimberly Jean, daughter of Eugene Bonacci and Sandra J. Wargo; godparents: Mr. and Mrs. John P. Damay. Son Rally Day, September 14th, our Sunday School staff and teachers rededicated themselves to their teach­ing ministry. The congregation took the pledge of assistance. Confirmation classes will be held every Saturday at 10 a.m. The Jr. Youth Fellowship wül continue its meetings on the first and third Sun­day of each month at 1 p.m. October 12th was the date of our mortgage burning ceremony. The Rt. Rev. Dezső Abraham, bishop and the Very Rev. Tibor Toth, dean of the Western Classis were our guest preachers. The Hon. Albert Fiok, judge of the Common Pleas Court of Allegheny County and Dr. Joseph Nemeth, professor at Bowling Green University were our guest speakers at the banquet. Baptism: John Martin Kinnunen II, son of John Martin Kinnunen, Jr. and Catherine M. Simon God-par­ents: Robert Simon and Mary Kay Starry. Funerals: Mrs. Edwin Quist née Margaret Getcy, 50 andMrs. Elizabeth Perhacs, 83, born Kiskövesd, Zemplén County, Hungary. Mrs. Frank Bryan buried her husband. May God console the bereaved families! Gravestone dedications for Mrs. Edward Droppa and Mrs. Bertalan Gaal on August 24. On August 24th the Rt. Rev. Sándor Raski, bishop from Miskolc proclaim­ed the Word of God on both services. The Rev. Arpad George, national secretary of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America interpreted for the English congregation. Our Ladies’ Aid prepared a banquet in honor of Bishop Raski. Bishop Raski placed a wreath which he brought from Hungary on the grave of Mrs. Louis Nagy, the wife of the pastor. Ten members of our youth fellow­ship participated at the National Conference of the B.Y.F. The Pastor and Bishop Raski visited thee Con­ference. Seminarians Stephen Török and Bela Pohóczky served here; they were well like by the congregation. On September 14 th the Rev. Kalman Csia held orphanage Sunday in our congregation. The Pastor participated in the 20th anniversary services of the East Side church of Cleveland, Ohio. The Pastor was elected the new Superintendent of the Bethlen Home. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. October is designated as “Loyalty Month” when we ask our members to attend divine worship services faith­fully. The first Sunday was World Wide Communion, the second Youth & Layman Sunday, the third Family & Guest Sunday and the fourth Reformation Day. The C.YjF. meetings are held every Sunday at 7:00 P.M. in our Center. The Inter-Guild Social sponsored by our Women’s Guild will be held in our Center on Tuesday, October 21st at 8:00 P.M The Junior and Senior Confirma­tion Classes and Junior Choir are conducted on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. We welcome our new Choir Director, David Árpin, Student from Westmin­ster Choir College. Senior Choir rehearsals are heid on Wednesday from 7:00 P.M.
