MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 17 Roman Catholic—Presbyterian and Reformed Consultation The eighth semi-annual meeting of the Roman Catholic—Presbyterian and Reformed Consultation group took place in the Hungarian Reformed Church of Allen Park, Michigan (the Rev. Tibor Tóth, pastor) . The group met under the joint chairmanship of Dr. Robert V. Moss, Jr., president of Lancaster Theological Seminary and Msgr. Henry G. J. Beck, pastor in Lyndhurst, N. J. The consultation is sponsored by the North American Area Council of the Reformed World Alliance and the American Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Affairs. The Theology Section continued its discussion on “The Ministry of the Church” while the Worship and Mission Section examined two papers on inter- Christian (“mixed”) marriages, presented by Msgr. Henry Beck and the Rev. Glenn E. Baumann. It is hoped that the final texts of these papers will soon be published in several denominational magazines, among them in Magyar Egyház. Two morning worship services were held in the sanctuary; the Roman Catholics conducted one of them, the other followed the order of the Hungarian Reformed Church. Bishop Ernest Unterkoeffler (Roman Catholic diocese of South Carolina) will be the host of the next meeting in Charleston, S.C. in May, 1969. Here, the Theology Section wiR focus its dialogue on the topic of “episcopacy”, the Worship and Mission Section will continue its discussion of inter-Christian marriage, exchanging views on the “sacramentality” of marriage. The warm hospitality of the Allen Park Hungarian Reformed Church, the considerate services of its pastor and elders and the excellent meals prepared by the ladies were greatly appreciated by all participants. Dr. Andrew Harsanyi took part in the consultation as the delegate of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO Our annual church bazaar was a very successful one. The clear profit was $841.44 on bazaar evening and $520 in individual donations. Our bazaar committee included the following members: Charles Boehme, John Kato, Ernest Ladich, Edward Var go, Mrs. Robert Rutherford, Mrs. Michael Binkley, Mrs. James Nagy, Mrs. Alex Sivo and Mrs. Ruth Apáti. According to the decision of our church council we built a covered brick entrance above the side door of our Fellowship Hall. Our Sunday School Choir and our Teenager Choir will sing Christmas hymns during our candlelight service Sunday evening, December 22nd. The Fellowship Circle of our church donated new choir robes for our adult choir members. Special Christmas service: December 25, at 9:30 a.m. in Hungarian, at 11 a.m. in English, with holy communion services on both. Wedding: Connie Lee Race, our church organist and Andrew Michael Marhevsky, on December 14. Burial: Mrs. György Gábor, 77, on November 6. She was a member of the First Hungarian United Church of Christ. BETHLEHEM, PA. Worship services: December 24: combined at 7 P.M. — December 25: combined service and Lord’s Supper at 10 a.m. — December 31: combined at 7 P.M. — January 1st: combined at 10 a.m. The Thanksgiving Day Dinner on November 24th was sponsored by the Ladies Guild. Home again from the hospital is Mrs. John War os. In the hospital again: Debbie Nemeth. On November 17th András Göndöcz sang during the Hungarian service with Roberta Csizma playing the organ. CARTERET, N. J. Thanksgiving Sunday brought 120 communicants to the Lord’s Table. Donors of the holy elements were Mr. and Mrs. John Nemish (in memory of their parents) and Mr. John Nemo. The Sunday School teachers gave a dinner party in honor of their retiring superintendent, Mrs. Stephen Kovács who, after more than 10 years in this service, resigned because her family moved away from Carteret. Mrs. Alexander Peter was sworn in by the Pastor as her successor at the service on November 10. Wedding: Barbara Helen Sabo (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sabo) and Robert Henry Hilberg from Washington, D. C. on November 16. Frank C. Hilberg, Jr. and Margaret Cairns were their witnesses. Order of worships during the holiday season: Sunday, December 22, 9:30 — one service only, Sunday School Christmas program, followed by Christmas party in Rethlen Hall; Christmas Eve -— Hungarian at 6:30, English at 8 (candlelight service) ; Christmas Day — English at 8:30, Hungarian at 10:30, both with holy communion; December 26 — Hungarian at 11; December 29, Sunday — regular Sunday schedule; New dear’s Eve — English at 6:30, Hungarian at 7:30; New Year’s Day ■— Hungarian at 11 o’clock.
