14 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ in the meanwhile are being held in the “Upper Room” of Bethlen Hall, at 8:15 in Hungarian and at 9:30 in English. If the Lord wilt we shall return to the fully renovated church on October 22nd. The service of re­dedication will begin at 4:30 P.M. followed by the traditional Annual Dinner. Ten members of our Youth Fellow­ship attended the National B.Y.F. Conference. Wedding: Gary Edwin Elmer Hart­man and Lillian Elizabeth Anderson on August 5. Witnesses were Bertel and Evelyn Anderson. We remembered the first anniversary of the death of William Lazar, our former vice chief elder. Three of our faithful members passed away into their rest since August: Stephen Mako, Sr., 79, was buried August 4, Menhard Deak, 61, August 5, Mrs. Joseph Nagy, Sr. (Mary Boros), 73, September 18. The Lord is our comfort. Miss Linda Jensen has been named to the dean’s list at Newark State College, Union, N. J. DETROIT The Men’s Guild, at their first Fall meeting, drew up the schedule of events for the coming season. An outing will take place in the near future. The Golden Circle Club is planning a dance for October 21. Only limited number of tickets will be printed and only couples are to attend. Officers for the new season have been elected as follows: Joe Ali president, Steve Danko vice-president, Helen Hodi secretary, Joe Toth, treasurer, Alice Toth “sunshine.” The members were saddened by the untimely death of one of their faithful and beloved mem­bers, Al Posegay. He was a past president of the Circle and also past president of the English congregation. His warm smile and cheery hello will be missed by all. Over 400 people attended his funeral. At the first Fall meeting of the Dorcas Guild the treasurer made everybody happy with announcing a bank account balance of $2,867.89. They have seen “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and are planning to cook dinners for several occasions, among them for 450 Little Leaguers and 250 men. They bought two new steel cabinets and are taking care of the cleaning of the huge drapes in the auditorium. The Sunday School started its classes on September 10. They bought $320 worth of new equipment and will purchase new drapes for the class­rooms as well as a valance for the auditorium-stage. A Halloween Party is being planned — so start thinking about your costume . . . The Christian Fellowship of Young Adults has been a very busy group during the Summer with beach parties, barbecues, movies, bowling, etc. They acted as discussion leaders for the BYF Conference. A card party for November and a New Year’s Eve Dance are on the agenda, couples only, limited number of tickets. Personal “news” items: Bill Kish finally broke down and danced at the conference . . . Tom Nanashi thinks his bowling average will improve this year . . . Donna is still carrying the ball — what a secretary! DUQUESNE Baptism: Carol Lynn, daughter of Albert and Patricia Toth; godparents: Frank Toth, Jr. and Betty Lou Dell­inger. Wedding: Harold Dale Kunkle and Carol Ann Czap. Funeral: Albert Shigo, on July 8th. Interment was in our cemetery. Harvest-Home Communion was ob­served on July 30th. 151 members came to the Lord’s Table; 8 shut-ins received the holy elements in their homes. August 6th and 13th were Layman’s Sundays. Speakers were: Alex War go and Francis Helmeczi. September 10th was Rally Day for our Sunday School. On this day the following officers and teachers were dedicated at our worship service: Superintendant Eileen Halpern; Staff: Alan Palagy, Daniel Ochiva, Irene Zeleznick, Denise Danes, Stephen Sabo, Jr., Francis Helmeczi, Karen Sabo; Teachers: Alex War go, Sue War go, Ethel Stanko, Irene Vockley, Ruth Sabo, Barbara Revak, Mildred Sabo, Helen Helmeczi, Charlene Nagy, Sharon Nagy. Our young people returned from the National Conferene with happy memories, and are looking forward to an active and interesting schedule in the fall season. Confirmation Class instructions have already begun with 6 members. NILES The Rev. Valentine Toth, former pastor of the Hungarian Church in Lorain, Ohio, now a practicing at­torney substituted Dr. Sewell on two Sundays during his vacation. The congregation held its third and last picnic of the season on the Téglás’ farm on September 10. The weather was unseasonably cold but the fellowship warm. Congratulations to Elder W. Dallas Woodall who has passed the Ohio Bar examination and opened his law offices in early September. With him the second Ruling Elder of our con­gregation has begun practicing law. Nicholas Sewell, Jr. and his wife Pamela had their first child, Tania Marie, on September 2, their second wedding anniversary. Pamela was born in Japan, and Nicholas, Jr. in Hun­gary. Rev. and Mrs. Sewell just re­ceived their first granddaughter. World Wide Communion Service will be held with youth participation traditionally on the first Sunday evening in October. PERTH AMBOY October is Loyalty Month ob­servance in our church; members are urged to attend services faithfully. First Sunday is World-Wide Com­munion; the second is Youth Sunday; the third and fourth is Family and Guest Sunday; and the last is Re­formation Sunday. Several members of our church will participate in the Central Jersey Evangelistic Crusade to be held in Asbury Park, N. J., from November 5th to 19th. Baptisms: Jane Ellen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Egry; Howard Joseph, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pirigyi, Brian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Zoltán Szuch; Dana Elizabeth, daugh­ter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Schlatter. Weddings: Robert A. Cole and Ar­lene Churko on July 1st, (witnesses were James Renick and John Churko) Wililam J. Harsanyi and Sadie Dam­­back on August 26th (witnesses were Lawrence H. Tandy rack and Mrs. William Harsanyi, Sr.). Funerals: Robert Reese, Jr., on July 3rd. lived 2 days; Walter Z. Üveges, on July 6th, 57 years old; Joseph Halasz, on July 9th, 84 years old; Andrew Benda, on July 16th, 61 years old; George Dolhai, on August 10th, 60 years old; Mrs. Ellis Simon, (nee: Susanna Beky) on August 14th, 64 ears old. Our organizations, Sunday School, Saturday Bible School, choirs, women’s groups, youth clubs, men’s organization resumed their activities after the summer vacation and are awaiting more members to join their ranks. ROEBLING Worship Services: English at 10:00 a.m., Hungarian at 11:00 a.m., Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. During the Pastor’s visit to Hungary the following ministers served in our church: The Rev.
