10 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ New officers of the Men’s Fellowship for a two-year term are Andrew Pross president, Michael Sárik vicepresident, Louis W. Fabian recording, Louis J. Szabó corresponding secretary, Frank Vérségi, treasurer, Frank Deak sergeant-at-arms. Weddings: Robert Paul Szabó and Patricia Ann Murray on January 20; Raymond Denton and Elizabeth Mary Legeny on February 4. Services of prayer and meditation are being conducted every Thursday evening at 7 during Lent. BETHLEHEM The first session of our Congregational Meeting on January 15th made the following decision regarding the union of the two Hungarian Churches in Bethlehem: The congregation welcoms the union of the two churches if the united church maintains the name “Hungarian Reformed” and the churchbuilding located on North and High Street. The same meeting on January 22 elected the new officers of the church as follows: president Edward Erdie, vice president John War os Sr., treasurer Sándor Chomos, secretary László Fekete, controller John Simon; elders John Bartek, Robert Csizma, John Fabian, Louis Greczy, Stephen Kuronya, Ernest Nemeth Sr., James Pash, Julius Szalai. The dinner to honor the new officers was held on February 19th. The Dean and the Chief Elder of the Eastern Classis visited our congregation on February 19th The same day we had a combined meeting of the Boards of Elders of the two Hungarian Reformed Churches. Funeral: Charles Pongracz on January 18th and Stephen István on January 24th. László Fekete, our secretary is being hospitalized with a broken ankle in St. Luke’s Hospital. DETROIT The Dorcas Guild’s dinner for the Great Lakes Steel Co. was very successful : $557 was the net profit. The Men’s Club will have a dinner on February 25th and have asked the Dorcas Guild to do the cooking. Tickets are $2.75 per adult, $1.50 for children’s tickets. The Sunday School’s annual card party will be held on March 9th. DUQUESNE Financial report for the year 1966; income $29,067.79, expenses $28,380.94. Mortgage on our buildings on December 31, 1966: $19.965.57 held by the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America. The congregation elected the following officers for the year 1967: Richard Heyz, chief elder, Charles Nagy Jr. first assistant, John Darnay second assistant, Joseph Vor os treasurer, John Estu auditor, Donald Koester offering recorder, Frank Kottán secretary. Two new councilmen were elected, Robert Kish and Leslie Revak. The present number of councilmen is 19. The fellowship dinner was hosted by the Women’s Club. Funeral: Leslie Nestor, February 7th. Interment in the church cemetery. We will have Lenten services every Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. Michael Boros donated the communion elements for the entire year. PERTH AMBOY The following officers of the church were reelected at our annual congregational meeting held January 29th: John Marincsak chief elder, John Latkovich vice-president, John S. Kovács Jr. treasurer, and Joseph Bányácski secretary. Andrew Rácz Jr. and Gabriel Silágyi were elected new members of the church council, and the following were reelected: Steve Katko, William Lasok, Steve Orosz, Albert St. Miklossy, John Varga (Old Bridge). The newly elected officers and elders, participated in a corporate Holy Communion on February 5th, when 225 received Holy Communion at the English and 73 at the Hungarian service. Our Women’s Guild was organized 20 years ago. The members will participate in a corporate Holy Communion on March 5th. The 20th anniversary of the Guild will be celebrated at another time. The Christian Youth Fellowship “Coffee Hour” is scheduled for March 5th, their “singspiration” for Sunday, March 12th at 7:30 P.M. in the church; and a religious sound motion picture for Sunday, March 19th at 7:30 P.M... in the Center. March 24th: Good Friday services 10:30 A.M. Hungarian, from 12 noon to 3 P.M. united; and 7:30 P.M. English. March 25th, Saturday 7:30 P.M. preparatorp service for Holy Communion. Easter Sunday: both the 8:00 A.M. and the 10:30 A.M. services will be with Holy Communion. March 27th (Easter) Monday holiday closing service with Holy Communion at 10:30 A.M. ROEBLING Financial Report for 1966: total income (without carryover from 1965) $13,724.58, total expense $11,594.49, balance $2,130.09. Officers of the Women’s Guild for 1967: Mrs. John Genasky president, Mrs. Steven Takach 1st vice-president, Mrs. Frank Nagy 2nd vice-president, Mrs. Elmer Soltész secretary (62 - 3rd Ave., Roebling, N. J. 08554), Mrs. George Bordash treasurer, Mrs. Frank Todash Sr. and Miss Jay Szinyeri trustees. During the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity our church participated in the program. It was uplifting to see Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Methodist and Reformed Christians worshipping together. It will certainly help the Christians of our community to have more love and understanding toward one another. However, we Reformed Christians must keep in mind that the pure and Biblical doctrine of the church comes before fellowship (Acts 2:42). When the Worship Service was held in our church, the sermon was delivered by the Rev. Stephen Kovács, pastor of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Trenton. Burial: John Samu was called home by the Giver of Life. May the good Lord grant him a peaceful rest. May He also comfort his loved ones. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Samu donated $300 to our church in memory of the late John Samu. We express our many thanks for the generous gift. STATEN ISLAND The Annual Congregational meeting was held February 5th. The Annual Report presented by Pastor Nyary was accepted. The report commended the faithful services of the elders and of the officers of the church as well as of the Women’s Guild. The congregation elected the following officers: president John Rodvansky, vice-president John Kosa Sr., secretary Alexander Kosa, treasurer Stephen Nemeth, John Kosa Jr. and Alexander Szabó as elders. The meeting elected Louis Demes, Joseph Doch and Andrew Kutko as honorary members of the Council for life. To honor the newly elected officers of all organizations the Women’s Guild sponsored the annual Installation Dinner on Sunday, February 19. The Women’s Guild participated in a corporate Holy Communion on the First Sunday of Lent. The annual meeting decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the congregation’s foundation on Sunday, May 7.
