MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 treasurer for the year of 1966 by the Florence Township Ministerium. Baptism: Kim Julia Kovács and Frank David Zubor; Adult Confirmation: Mrs. John Emery; Marriage: James Harkel and Georgiana Bordash, Lenord Jacoby and Margaret Botlinger, Bert Somogyi and Jean Bajzath; Confirmation: Betty Ann Varga; Burial: Mrs. Andrew Csanyi and Mrs. Demeter Todash. We received 6 new members into our church in 1965. STATEN ISLAND The Christmas season was richly blessed to us spiritually as well as financially. The oldest members from the northside of the Island, too, lived with Holy Communion. The Women’s Guild had their Christmas Party December 13 and the old ladies joined the first time in this event. The children had their party December 19. Each child presented some Christmas poem or reading. The carolers (in 3 groups) cheered up almost all members of our congregation. The Annual Meeting was on Jan. 23. Here are the vital statistics of the last year: 2 baptisms, 1 wedding and 5 burials. There was no confirmation. The installation dinner will take place February 13 following the morning services. YOUNGSTOWN Our Christmas worship services were well attended; our church was filled on Christmas Eve as well as on Christmas Day when 181 members lived with the sacrament. The members of the Yolanda Circle, Men’s Club and Youth Group went caroling this year which was well received by the members. All our members were visited. Concerning the dinner mentioned in the December issue, we left out one of the most important items. Everything needed to the dinner was donated by Mrs. Adam Hohvart. Funeral: Mrs. Alexander Liska, (Elizabeth Kuni) was called home bv the Lord of Life and was buried from the church on January 9th. She was a charter member of the church, YOUTH ISÍ5WS THE NEXT QUARTERLY CONFERENCE of the Eastern Area Youth Federation will take place in the Somerset Street Hungarian Reformed Church, New Brunswick, N. J., Sunday, February 6, beginning at 2 p.m. CARTERET Our Youth Fellowship went on its traditional Christmas Caroling on the nights of December 20, 21, and 22. Three English carols and one Hungarian version of Silent Night, which warmed many hearts, were sung at the homes of our fellow church members. I must mention the fact that from projects, such as the above, we will donate funds to the permanent campsite to be erected in Ligonier, Pa. On December 27, we went on our annual trip to New York City accompanied by Mrs. Nemish and Mrs. Harsanyi. We saw The Agony and the Ecstasy, (by Eddie Fisher and Richard Burton — Ha! Ha!), a story about the great sculptor and painter, Michelangelo. After an adventurous (?) tour of the city, everyone went home halffilled with hamburgers and pizzas, and, with sore feet!! All in all, everyone had a wonderful time and we are thankful for a safe journey. At our next regular meetings in January, we will resume our heated discussion on “ Why Bother About God?” Our group will discuss many more topics at our forthcoming meetings. Frank Papp DETROIT Our year has finally come to a close, and with God’s help it has been a truly successful one. Our members have grown, especially since our Annual Conference, which gave us an added initiative. We served at four weddings which netted us $260 for our treasury. We paid for our entire conference from proceeds of our various activities. Approximately $300 was paid out, plus hosting the Western Classis in June which the Youth Fellowship also paid for. We furnished our Y.P.C. room with furniture from a Stamp Drive. We sponsored a Card Party in January, a Pancake Breakfast in February, a Christmas toy and Christmas card sale in November with a huge card party and a bake sale of Hungarian pastries. All prizes were hand creations made by members of our Y. P. C. The total income was $1,039 which left us with a net profit of $800. We donated $1,000 to our church and closed our books with a total of $169 in our account. We elected the following new officers: president Joseph Sobodash, vice president John Fodo, secretary Julie Rejko (17756 Smith, Riverview, Mich. 48194), assistant secretary Andy Fodo, treasurer Judy Sabo, assistant treasurer Sharon Lengyel, chaplain Debbie Kaplar, sergeant-at-arms Dan Nagy, historian Pam Kish. Our new advisors are Mrs. Tibor Toth, wife of our pastor and (temporary) Mr. Ernest Arvai. Many thanks to our former advisors Mrs. Elizabeth Kish and Mr. Steve Nagy and all those who in some measure helped make our year so fruitful. May God bless each and every one. Julie Rejko YOUNGSTOWN On December 19, Sunday afternoon, the Youth of our church put on a Christmas play, afterward Santa Claus passed out candy and oranges to the young ones. We all went Christmas Caroling, an annual tradition which we all enjoyed. Az elmúlt 1965. év a gyülekezet legeredményesebb évei közé tartozik. A templombajárás növekedett.
