12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS BETHLEHEM On Mother’s Day all the ladies pres­ent on both services received lovely flowers from the Sunday School. Confirmation will be held during the combined worship service, at 10 a.m., on May 30th. Those who will be confirmed are: Debby Nemeth, Sandy Chomos, Jacky War os and Jimmy Wrabel. CARTERET Close to 400 members lived with the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday. This represents 82 % of our con­firmed communicant membership, the highest number in recent years. Members of this year’s confirmation class will be confirmed at the 9 o’clock communion service (in Eng­lish) on Pentecost Sunday. Their public examination will take place the night before at the close of the bilingual preparatory service which is scheduled to begin at 6:30. Hun­garian language communion service on Pentecost Sunday will begin at 11 o’clock. Members of the confirmation class include Etaine Elizabeth Acs, Mar­garet Elizabeth Deak, Joseph William Mitro, Julius Lengyel, Karen Ann Paloczie and Frank Toth. Baptism. On February 2, at Perth Amboy General Hospital, emergency baptism was administered by the Pastor to the twin boys of Elvin Ray Nettles and his wife, Ethel Kovács. With deep gratitude to the Lord that He has preserved the lives of these little ones, the baptismal vows were made by parents and godparents in the course of the worship service on May 2. The twins were named Marshall Franklin and Raymond Jo­seph. Godparents: Earl Nettles and Elizabeth Shimko, Stephen Kovács and Elizabeth Mako. Two members of our congregation have been honored lately by civic organizations. Mrs. Julius Reisz was named Mother of the Year by the Carteret Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, while Mrs. Zoltán Milak has been elected president of the Carteret Jaycee-ettes. DUQUESNE, PA. 89 per cent of our confirmed mem­bership participated in the Commun­ion Services held on Maundy Thurs­day night and on Easter morning, in­cluding our sick and shut-in. Our May Fellowship Dinner, how­ever, was mostly poorly attended — causing some changes to be made in the future. The annual breakfast for our high school graduates is planned for Sun­day, May 30, on the day of their Baccalaureate Service. Our graduates of Class 1965 include: Edward E. Bal­der, Nicholas S. Balias, Jr., Susan I. Galata, Albert W. Helmeczi, Janice L. Horvath, William D. Horvath, James J. Kottán, Charlene D. Nagy, Marilyn M. Nagy, Alan J. Palagy, Ruth Ann Sapos, Stephanie M. Szőke, Paul A. War go, Jr. The Memorial Service in our ceme­tery is planned for Sunday, May 30 (weather permitting). Our daily Vacation Bible School will open on Monday, June 14 and close with Parents Day on Friday, June 25. Rev. Stephen Szőke was selected as the speaker of the Baccalaureate Ser­vice for graduates of Duquesne and West Mifflin (North) High Schools. ROEBLING The ordination and installation of our pastor will be held on Sunday, June 6. Church Service will begin at 4:00 p.m. followed by dinner in the Trinity Methodist Church Hall on Knickerbocker Ave. at 6:00 p.m. Our friends and members of the sister churches are cordially invited. PERTH AMBOY On May 27th, Ascension Day, the following young people were confirm­ed : Frank Bereczki, Paul Clayton, Susan Király, Kathleen Kozma, Deb­orah Lovász, Robert Latkovich, David Orosz, Joseph Orosz, Kathy Ryal, Al­lan Tibák, John Varga, Joseph Viliig. On Sunday, May 30th, there will be a short memorial serice in our Cal­vary Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 4th, at 7:30 p.m.: pre­paratory service in English; Saturday, June 5th, at 7:30 p.m., in Hungarian. Pentecost Sunday: worship services at 9 and 10:30 a.m., both with Holy Communion. Monday, June 7th: holi­day closing service in Hungarian with Holv Communion at 10:30. The second annual “Honor the Graduate” banquet is scheduled for Wednesday, June 30th, at 6:30 p.m. in our Center. Parents and graduat­ing young people are invited. Marriages: John J. Boelhoewer and Shirley Ai Kijula; Julius Magyar and Virginia Gassaway. STATEN ISLAND Orphanage Day will be observed June 20 when the Rev. Alexander Daroczy will be our guest preacher. On Mother’s Day our Youth Fellow­ship sponsored the dinner. Our Sun­day School children greeted the mothers with songs, poems and reci­tations. Mrs- Alexander Szabó was elected vice president of United Church Wo­men. We welcome among us Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Teryek as our new mem­bers. Burial — On May 7 Mrs. Rose Flesland, 51. YOUTH NEWS THE 26th ANNUAL B.Y.F. CONFERENCE The Bethlen Youth Federation is having their 26th annual youth conference in Akron, Ohio, Septem­ber 3, 4, 5, and 6 at Camp Ledge­­wood, Peninsula, Ohio. Program for the conference is in full preparation by the host youth fellowship of the Akron church. The registration fee will be $10.00 for the full four days, $9.00 for late registration on Saturday. The fee may be paid one of two ways. The full amount returned with the application blank or half with the application blank and the remainder upon arrival. The dead-line for registration will be July 15th and to be sent to John B. Farkas, ad­visor, 489 Lincoln Avenue, Barberton, Ohio. Two topics will be presented. One, the “Layman’s Role in Church Life” by William Perry, President of the Council of Churches of Greater Akron. The other topic, “Our Church Heritage” by the Rev. Stephen Kovács. Some of the recreational high­lights of the conference will be a fire side jamboree consisting of skits and singing from the visiting groups. Also dancing and swimming will be available. More information will be sent out from the host group in the future news letters. We hope the enthusiasm is as high in our sister groups as it is in Akron. We hope to see you all at the conference.
