MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 ference in Trenton. At the 5th Annual Conference of United Church Women in Roebling, Mrs. Fabian, Mrs. Kery and Mrs. Mazak represented our Church. Mrs. Fabian was elected a delegate. The elements of the Lord’s Supper for Pentecost were donated by Mr. and Mrs. E. Kery. Mrs. Julianna Barta died on May 7. Our young elder, Stephen Kuronya, suffered a heart attack. He is in St. Luke’s Hospital. CARTERET The number of communicants on Whitsunday was 163 including the 10 newly confirmed young people. Ralph Burton was also welcomed as a new member of the congregation. The congregation was well represented at both the United Church Women Conference in Roebling and at the Quarterly Youth Conference in Trenton. A group of ten from Carteret are among the regular participants of the Sunday School Teachers Training Course. At the Roebling Conference Mrs. Judy Fischer from our guild was elected secretary of United Church Women. Dr. Andrew Kosa and the Rev. Alexander Daroczy supplied the pulpit during the Pastor’s European trip. Fruzsina Margit Harsanyi, daughter of the Pastor and Mrs. Andrew Harsanyi will be married to Andrew Joseph Fedlam on June 6. All families of the congregation have received invitations to the wedding and the following reception. The two women’s societies of the church held a surprise bridal shower on May 15 where — in the presence of close to a hundred ladies of the congregation — the bride was literally showered with gifts. The Junior Women’s Guild sponsored a well attended Mother and Daughter Social to which members of the Lorantfy Society were invited. The Men’s Club followed an invitation of the Perth Amboy Men’s Club while the Youth Fellowship visited the young people of the New Brunswick Church. The infant daughter of Alice and Francis Taylor, Ann Louise, was buried May 19th. DUQUESNE The tenth anniversary of the dedication of our church was a real success; a report of it is given as a separate news item. Mother’s Day was also Confirmation Day for the following young people: Gary Steven Bence, Christine Elizabeth Estu, Joseph Louis Hegedűs, Janet Lynne Kallery, Daniel Steven Ochiva, Sharon Elaine Sapos, Diane Elizabeth Vockley, Gary Robert Wargo and Lawrence Andrew Wargo. Our Vacation Bible School will open on Monday, June 8; Mrs. Margaret Kovach will be in change. The teaching staff includes Helen Sapos, Ann Shigo, Irene Vockley, Ethel Stanko, Helen Homoki and Yolanda Estu, teachers; Shirley Stiver, pianist, Stephanie Szőke, Charlene Nagy, Janice Horvath, Ruth Sapos, Daryle Kallery and Susan Galata, assistants and helpers. Our Youth Fellowship gave two new flags as anniversary gifts to the church, both were placed in the sanctuary. The Women’s Club will assist the Youth Fellowship as host to the next district youth meeting on Sunday, June 14. PERTH AMBOY The Annual Mother’s Day banquet was a successful affair arranged by the Women’s Guild on May 17th; at that time the confirmation class members were honored. The following boys and girls were members of the Sr. Confirmation Class: Michael Ablonsky, Nicholas Boelhower, Ann Deák, Joyce Kovács, Matthew Kozma, Barry Lipnick, Linda Moran, Jann O’Buck, Edward Pirigyi, Thomas Silágyi, Janet Tariska, Geoffry Tibák, and Carol Vig. The Annual Women’s Conference held in Roebling on May 3rd elected Mrs. Elizabeth Dudich President and Mrs. Julius Király Hungarian Secretary. The basketball team of our church became the champion in the Church Athletic Federation of our city. Kenneth Rychlicky was the manager. The following members were recognized at a banquet on May 17th: Gerald Angel, Richard Bodnár, Frank Baka, James Deák, Rodney Mattó, Steven Poroski, Daniel Sebestyén and Joseph Scrittore. Statistics: the following children were baptized: Lu Ann Dunn, first born daughter of Evelyn Tóth and Robert Dunn; Laura Jean Egry, daughter of Laura J. Pokol and John L. Egry; Laura Ann Deák, first born daughter of Carole A. Kasmer and Stephen J. Deák; Steven Alexander Balia, son of Ann M. Zientek and Alex S. Balia; Julius Henry Izsó, first born son of Mary Ann Kovács and Julius E. Izsó. These members died: Joseph Lovas, Mrs. Frank Dako, Mrs. George Jenei, Menyhért Széles, Alexander Batha. STATEN ISLAND On May 10th we had our annual Mother’s Day dinner given by our Young People’s Club. We were glad to see that the church members came out to support this affair. Our Women’s Guild is sponsoring a Chinese auction this month and we hope to see everyone of you there. This past month we laid to rest our beloved brother Mr. Steven Albert. We also mourned the death of the husband of one of our church members, Mrs. Stankovicz. YOUNGSTOWN The Conference of the Western Classis Youth Federation was held in our church April 12. Represented beside the host group, were the youth groups from Duquesne, McKeesport and Akron. The Spring Bazaar held by the Men’s Club on April 18-19 was a success. We express our thanks to the members of the congregation for their patronage and to the members of the Men’s Club for their work. On Mother’s Day the following were confirmed: Gloria J. Bernard, Arlene J. Fuzy, Kathleen L. Smith, Paul A. Takacs, Donna J. aVntell and James R. Varga. Our Pentecost Sunday services were well attended and many took communion. A vasárnapi iskolai tanítói tanfolyamon tanítóink szorgalmasan résztvesznek minden hétfőn este. Esküvő: Donald Eugene Lattin és June Elizabeth Fazekas esküdtek egymásnak hűséget.
