MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 ROEBLING The Youth Fellowship elected the following officers for 1963: President: Edward Stefan, Vice-President: Bert Somogyi, Secretary: Beverly Genasky, Treasurer: Emily Csogi. STATEN ISLAND The Young People’s Club has just completed their annual election of officers for 1963. Frank Kosa will serve as president, Roger Bodnar as vice-president, Nancy Szabó as treasurer, Charlotte Kosa as assistant treasurer, Judy Szabó as secretary and Gloria Torzsas as chaplain. The Staten Island delegation throughly enjoyed the Quarterly Conference in Trenton and was particularly happy because of the election of Roger Bodnar to the presidency of the Eastern Classis Youth Federation. Frank Kosa was chosen to serve on the newly formed advisory board. Our religious topic for the month is predestination which we study under the guidance of Reverend Adorján. We enjoyed attending a social at Carteret on February 22 — they always organize such successful gettogethers. NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS TRENTON As January drew to a close, so did the elections of the various organizations of the Trenton Congregation. The Board of Elders elected Elmer Danch as Chief Elder, Andrew Ture 1st Vice chief-elder, Walter Katona 2nd Vice chief-elder, James Bogár, Secretary, Julius Borcsik, treasurer, Kálmán Adorján comptroller, Nicholas Katona financial secretary, and Steve Vágott and Alex Nagy, trustees. Mr. Nicholas Papp, retiring Chief Elder, was made an ex-officio advisor to the Board. The Lorántfy Society elected Mészáros Antalné, president; Özv. Tóth Józsefné vice president; Özv. Kish Lászlóné, secretary and Beke Istvánné, treasurer. The Nőegylet has scheduled their Sunday afternoon novelty teas for the month of February. May God grant his blessings on their sincere and earnest labor for the betterment of our Church. The organization contributed over $2,000. last year to the church. Leadership of the Women’s Giuld this year will be under the direction of Mrs. Betty Katona, president, Mrs. Helen Beke and Mrs. Yolanda Miklovics, first and second vice presidents, respectively; Miss Ann Didrence, secretary; and Mrs. Pat Sabo, treasurer. Others holding office are Mrs. Marge Schmidt, Mrs. Marge Ero and Mrs. Helen Ebert. The Guild plans a Family Night for Saturday, March 23, 7 P.M. Special entertainment for the children are in progress. Mrs. Andrew Ture is program chairman. The new year also finds a new organization in the making at Trenton. Ambitious, foresighted men are organizing a Men’s Club to help further our Christian enlightenment and duty. The Board of Elders have plans in the making for a Church Ham Supper to be held Saturday evening, March 9th at 6 p.m. The dinner will be in honor of all our male golden agers, former and present elders and all Sándors and Josephs. The month of March being the month in which Sándor and Joseph “Name Days” are celebrated. BETHLEHEM The new elders and officers of the Church were elected at the annual meeting of the congregation held on January 13th. Chief-elder — Erdie Edward, vice-chief elder — Emery Kery, Secretary — Sándor Chomos, treasurer — Ernest Nemeth, Jr., controller — Robert Csizma, Elders; László Fekete, John Fabian, Karoly Lasko. The Annual Congregational Dinner was on February 10th. CARTERET The annual congregational meeting elected, resp. re-elected to the office of elder the following: Alexander Comba, Geza Megyesi, Alexander Peter, Bert Pokol, Andrew Pross, Louis J. Szabó and Frank Vérségi. Officers for 1963 include Louis J. Szabó as chief elder, William Lazar as vice-chief elder, Andrew Pross as treasurer and Julius Reisz as financial secretary. The 60th anniversary observance of the congregation will take place on May 26th. The previously set date, April 7, has been changed at the request of several members and organizations. Lenten Communion will be held on the First Sunday in Lent, March 3rd. Special Lenten Mid- Week Services will take place every Thursday evening at 7 o'clock. These services will be conducted in Hungarian on March 7th, 21st and April 4th, in English on March 14th and 28th. Wedding: Joseph Kapinos and Veronica Kutcher, on January 26th. PERTH AMBOY The installation of the newly elected church officers took place on Sunday, February 3rd, when members of the church council and of the Men’s Club participated in corporate Holy Communion. The new officers are the following: John Marinesák, President; John Latkovich, Vice-President; Joseph Bányácski, Secretay; Gabriel Tariska, Treasurer; John Bálint, Financial Secretary. The following new members took oath as Church Council members: Steve J. Deák, John S. Kovács, Andrew, Steve and William Orosz, Peter Dudich, William Pastor, Frank Varga, and Frank Zambo. The marriage of miss Evelin Tóth and Mr. Russell Dunn took place in our church on Saturday February 9th. May God’s blessing be with the young couple. World Day of Prayer service in Perth Amboy will be held in our church with all Protestant churches cooperating at 2:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 1st. The Women’s Guild’s corporate Holy Communion will take place on March 3rd during the first service. Their “Hat-Social” is scheduled for March 19th, Tuesday evening. The annual theatre trip to New York City will be on March 23rd. The Men’s Club’s pledge of $500. towards the new property purchased by the church recently, was paid and our thanks and appreciation to the members is hereby expressed. ROEBLING New Elders were elected and installed in addition to those already reported: Andrew Melsky, Frank Kimble and Steven Takach. The Women’s Guild of our Church re-elected the faithful officers of the previous year.
