BOOK REVIEW Thine Is My Heart, Devotional readings from the writings of John Calvin, compiled by Dr. John H. Kromminga, Zondervan Publishing Co., $3.95 Dr. Kromminga, the President of Calvin Seminai’y, explains in his preface to this daily devotional that this book is especially desired and expected to bring the reader into the presence of the living God. Calvin was a man who felt that God should be the center of all deeds and actions. Upon using this book one will truly find himself closer to God, a relationship which should be shared by each and every one of us. The book consists of passages from the Bible, followed by excerpts from Calvin’s Sermons, Commentaries, Institutes, Letters and Tracts. The reader will find numerous explanations and comments that will very probably enlighten him and enrich his ways of thinking. This classic devotional was issued to coincide with the celebration of the 450th year of Calvin’s birth. It will be a guide to all those that will read it, bringing the reader closer to our living God. Zsolt Harsanyi OPEN LETTER TO ALL YOUNG PEOPLE OF THE HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH IN AMERICA Dear Fellow Young People: “WE WANT YOU” Yes, we want you to look to the future for the future is in your hands. And as part of the future we want you to look to your Church, without which there can and will be nothing. It is not too early to start. Take an active part in the various activities of your Church — be a doer not a watcher. One of the activities in which we would like to have you take a more active part is the Bethlen Youth Federation. As we have said, it is not too early to start, like to plan for the National Conference of the Bethlen Youth Federation which is held annually over the Labor Day Weekend. This year’s Conference will be held on September 3, 4, and 5 at Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Plan now to attend. The attendance and membership of the Bethlen Youth Federation has slowly been diminishing, but this downward trend can be very easily and quickly reversed by the combined efforts of all of us. Let us shake off this lethargy into which we seemed to have fallen and arise and face the future and our responsibilities with the convictions of becoming future leaders in our Church. Let us make this our “Year of Renaissance” and increase our membership in the Federation, not twofold, but multifold. There are the skeptics who say “it can’t be done”, but let’s prove to them and all that it can and will be done. Do it now — pass the word along to all young people, talk it up among yourselves and your groups: plan to attend the Bethlen Youth Conference over the Labor Day Weekend at Perth Amboy. We the officers of the Federation can not urge you strongly enough to take a part in these functions. It is most rewarding to meet with old friends and make many new ones at the Conference. Join us in this spirit of fellowship and become an active participant and member. We shall be looking forward to seeing ALL of you and remember — “WE WANT YOU” to attend the Bethlen Youth Conference on September 3, 4, and 5 at Perth Amboy. Julia Wargo, Secretary, Bethlen Youth Federation Ontario’s Lt. Governor Greets the Delegates of Our Church at the World Presbyterian Alliance Meeting in Toronto.
