10 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE BETHLEHEM, Pa. Our Junior Youth Fellowship elected the following new officers: Steven Kuronya Jr., president; James Kovary Jr., vice-president; Emma Erdie, secretary; Rosemarie John, treasurer; Frank Kovary, chaplain. They consider to have the Eastern Classis Youth Conference, which is due in October, at our church in Bethlehem. We had our annual congregational meeting on January 24, 1960. We are grateful to God both for the spiritual and material blessings which we received from His hands last year. CARTERET, N. J. Lenten Communion will be ob­served on Sunday, March 6. The worship service in English will begin at 9 A.M., in Hungarian at 10:30. The World Day of Prayer observ­ance by the Carteret Council of Churches, in which we participate, will serve as the preparatory service in English; it will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church, on Friday, March 4, 8 P.M. Hungarian prepara­tory service Saturday evening at 7:30. We shall take part in the Council of Churches’ Union Lenten Services. Our congregation will be the host on Thursday, March 10, 7:30 P.M. These services will be held every other Thursday. On alternate Thurs­days we shall have Hungarian serv­ices. The Troop Committee of our church sponsored Boy Scout Troop No. 84 honored William Comba, scoutmaster, on the occasion of his completing 25 years of service as scoutmaster of the troop. The Pastor gave the invocation and the benediction at a testimonial dinner honoring Mr. Alexander Comba, an elder of our congrega­tion, for 25 years of service as tax­­collector of the Borough of Carteret. Baptism: John Jr. son of John Bamburak Sr. and Elishava Mawnis; godparents Harry and Ann Mack­­nowski. Eight members of our Youth Fel­lowship attended the Eastern Classis quarterly conference. They also participated in the Universal Day of Prayer for Students in Carteret. DETROIT, Mich. In reply to a Duquesne commu­nication, the members of the Chris-CONGREGATIONS tian Youth Fellowship affirmatively voted for participation in the future Western Classis. Three members were graduated from high school this January. Di­anna Marth, who will work and attend secretarial night classes, Susan Lee Nagy, who will attend Wayne State University on a schol­arship and Richard Szente, who will begin a printer’s apprenticeship. DUQUESNE, PA. Our Congregational Meeting was held on unday, January 24, in con­junction with our first Fellowship Dinner of the year. The supper was well attended, and all members stayed for the meeting and appre­ciated its high spiritual level. The new officials were elected and duly installed by the Pastor. Recognition was also given to the former Chief Elder, Elmer Shigo, who served our congregation faithfully during the last three years. Officers for I960: Andrew Sapos, Chief Elder; James Lewis and Jo­seph Kallery, Elders; Joseph Voros, Treasurer; Joseph Toth, Auditor; Charles Nagy, Jr., Recorder of Of­fering; Julius Nagy, Secretary. Our Church Council has 15 elected members. The one-third of the Council, who served their three year term, were reelected for an other three year term, these are: Frank Kottán, Jr„ James Lewis, Daniel Ochiva, Elmer Shigo, Joseph Voros. Stephen R. Szepesi was elected for one year in place of Frank Horvath, who moved to Ohio. Other members serving one or two years of their term: John P. Darnay, Ernest Ko­vach, Charles Nagy, Jr. Andrew Sapos; John Estu, Joseph Kallery, Julius Nagy, Joseph Toth and Andrew Wargo. Honorary councilmen, serving dur­ing the Hungarian services, are: Miklós Balazs, Sr., Julius Eötvös and Andrew Kis. Deacons for 1960: Gene Genes, Andew Gougler, Robert Kish, Donald Koester, Robert Szepesi, Richard Szuch and Arthur Tusay. The Men’s Club elected the fol­lowing members: Donald Koester, President; Robert Szepesi, Vice- Pres.; Joseph Voros, Sec.-Treas. McKeesport, Pa. The Youth Fellowship donated $50.00 to the Church. The Youth Fellowship’s new of­ficers for 1960 are: President: Paul Makatura; Vice President: Joseph Brindza; Secretary: Elizabeth Nagy; Treasurer: Emerson Rausch. Their plans for 1960 consist of additional learning of faith and creeds, revi­sion of by-laws, campaign for new members, and fund raising projects. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The newly elected officers of the Women’s Guild are: Mrs. Priscilla Jenkins president, Mrs. Margaret Szilágyi vice president, Mrs. Eliza­beth Larson secretary, Mrs. Helen Deak treasurer, Mrs. Irene Tariska chaplain, Mrs. Margaret Abraham advisor. They were installed by the chaplain and the pastor. The World Day of Prayer will be held this year in the Simpson Meth­odist Church, our members shall participate. The corporate Holy Communion of the Women’s Guild will be on March 6th. The Youth Fellowship and Club are working diligently. More young people ought to participate in the program. Our youth director, Mr. Herman Dykes, would like to have more cooperation of the parents. The choir members are singing faithfully during the first service under the leadership of Mr. Robert Wert. The choir needs more voices, especially men. The newly elected officers of the Christian Youth Fellowship are the following: Patricia Moran president, Sandra Banyacsky vice president, Peggy Kish secretary, Zsolt Nagy­­hetenyi treasurer, Frank Baka chap­lain, John Latkovich advisor. The newly elected officers of the Men’s Club are: Frank Zambo presi­dent, Norman Rhodes vice president, John Tariska treasurer, Norman Bright secretary, George Toth chap­lain. ROEBLING, N. J. The Eastern Classis Youth Fed­eration meeting was held in our Church on January 31st. We were very happy to welcome such an un­expected high number of young peo­ple. The list of our officers may be found in the Hungarian section. The new officers of the Young Wom­en’s Guild are: President: Mrs. Helen Nagy, Vice-President: Mrs. Julia Birkholz, Secretary: Mrs. Priscilla Bartha, Treasurer: Mrs. Helen Bor­­dash.
