EYSÍ E

FENDÍ (d. 1037/1628) alternates between verse and prose. It is also known as Siyer-i Veysí. His real name was Üveys b. Mehmed, but the poet used the pseudonym VEYSÎ in his works. He was head secretary (divan kâtibi) during Mehmed Şerif Paşa's (d.d.u.) governorship in Egypt and became cadi of the army during Vizier Ali Paşa's (d. 1058/1648) campaign in Hungary. MEHMED V
