R EVANI, whose real name was İlyas Şuca Çelebi, was responsible for the Sürre eminliği during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II (1481-1512). As he was involved in improper affairs, he went to Trabzon and was at Şehzade Selim's service. When Sultan Selim became Sultan (1512), he took R EVANI to Istanbul and made him chief of the imperial kitchen (matbah emini). During the last years of his life, he worked for charity and had a small mosque built in his name in Fatih Kırk Çeşme. Later, he was to be buried in the cemetery belonging to it. Other works by the same author: 1. Divan, 2. İşret-name. Sources indicate that there exists also a Hamse of the same author. 148
