LIST OF PHOTOGRAPHS 1. The Teleki-deed of foundation, with which count József Teleki (1790—1855), first president of the Academy, left the 30.000 volume library of his father, László Teleki, to the Hungárián Learned Society, thus laying the foundation of the Academy Library 2. The Library was placed in 1837 to the 2nd floor of the courtyard wing of the building built according to plans by József Hild (today no. 3 Sándor Petőfi St.). Here the Library was opened to the public in 1844 3. The lecture by Secretary Ferenc Schedel (Toldy), first chief librarian, held at the opening ceremony of the Library on the 23rd December 1844. The house constitutes a block together with the palace of the Aca­demy and was built according to the modified Ybl-plans at the same time when the palace, between May 1863 and November 1864.
