FOREWORD This catalogue is a continuation of the "Catalogue of candidate and doctoral dissertations" published by the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1962, which listed material for a period of eleven years. It is just ás much a catalogue of a collection, as the previous one was, consequently it neither contains dissertations handed in in bookform, nor those, which for different reasons are not in the Stock of the Manuscript Department, The catalogue was prepared under the same editorial principles as the 1962 edition; it follows the same line of classification. It employs the same decimal classification to identifiy the subject matter of the dissertations /we have underline

d these/. In similar manner, two name indexes complete the catalogue; one listing the authors, the other the opponents. It differs from the 1962 edition in that the date following the dissertations does not denote the time of their acceptance, but their completion. The date of the last entry is the 31st of December 1963, consequently it includes dissertations for which their authors received scientific degrees between the 1st of January 1962 and the 31st of December 1963.
