How to use the Index

15 DECOR Illustrations are given at the beginning of this card, characterized by the lay-out : frontispiece full-page half-page marginal with specifications concerning the technique of execution, their number, and in brackets, the folio number where they appear. Decoration categories, with indication of the technique, and the characteristic ornamental elements are listed according to their importance and not in order of appearance in the manuscript. Folio numbers are given for the more prominent examples only. The main categories are : borders initial word, or letter panels ornamented initial words ornaments outlined in micrography rubrics Tne sign * preceding each of these categories, as well as the main ornamental motifs, indicates that these items form part of the computerized lists.
