Tanulmányok Mindszenty Józsefről - Balogh Margit: A pályakezdés. Pehm József életútja a diákévektől az apátplébánosi kinevezéséig
36 Balogh Margit momentum launched his prominent priestly career, on 1st October, 1919. Zalaegerszeg, the Pannon “sleepy, dusty town” was his home for nearly three decades, between 1917 and 1944, which played a significant role in his life, as well as he left an indelible mark on the town. Pehm was actively involved in the town and county public life from the beginning. Since János Mikes, Diocesan was satisfied with his clerical activities, he appointed Pehm to be the parish priest in 1921, increasing not only his liability, but also his influence. Following this he received the honorary title of abbot at Porno devoted to “Saint Margaret of Antioch”, on 25th March, 1924. The study intends to give a thorough overview of Joseph Pehm’s early career, whose personal character sometimes showed an overzealous attitude, but he continuously tried to enforce the teachings of the Catholic Church.
