romboéderes feketés, míg a szabályos térrácsú vörös színű termékréteget képez. A vaskés pengéjét a földszemcsék eltávolítása után fogtechnikai szemcseszóróval pucoltam fémtisztára, míg a nyél csont elemeinek darabjait gumi polírkoronggal tisztítottam. A kés klorid-mentesítése - NaOH oldatban történt - után a passziváláshoz csersav-oldatot, bevonatként pedig Paraloid В 72 acetonos oldatát használtam. A nyél csont borítását oxiddal színezett Araldite Rapid, kétkomponensű epoxi-ragasztóval illesztettem össze illetve a kisebb kiegészítésekhez is ezt az anyagot alkalmaztam. A nyélborítást rögzítő - teljesen átalakult - acéltüskéket is műanyag stiftekkel helyettesítettem. Ezek - átfúrva - biztosíthatják az összeszerelés reverzibilitását. A római kori csontnyelű vaskés a Göcseji Múzeum „Központok a Zala mentén" című állandó kiállításán látható. Varjú András Irodalom: Kőfalvi Csilla: Vaskés, csont nyéllel. In: Központok a Zala mentén. Restoration of iron knife with a horn handle At the time of the foundation of Salla, the building of the Roman street system began in Pannónia. The roads, bridges, and posting houses and inns, which were uniformly spaced and the postalservice were the most characteristic parts of Roman civilisation, especially the imperial period. The ancient trade route, the Amber route, built in the second half of the 1 st century by the Legio XV Apollinaris, played an important role over this period in supplying the Danube Army which saw a considerable increase in volume. Municipium Aelium Salla represented the Pannonian terminal of the so-called „Amber road", where the precious material coming from the Baltic regions. The majority of amber imported to Italy during the Roman Age came from the Baltic and North Seas. . Salla (Sala, Salle) is probably an ancient european geographical name of Illyrian-Celtic origin referring to the River Zala. Hence the name of the settlement, which was the predecessor of presentday Zalalövő during Roman times. Through its approximately 400 years of existence it played an important role in the history of the region surrounded by the Rivers Raba and Mura as well as the foothills of the Alps and Balaton Uplands. The iron knife with a horn handle was founded on the excavations of Salla, the knife comes from the Roman period. For completion of cutlery has been used elementary substance and technicals. The hammered out slim-handled knife has been made of wrought-iron with a horn handle, which were decorated with incised geometrical decoration. The horn sheets were fixed through two holes, which were bored into handle's sheet of blade of knife. The material of rivet is made of iron too. The work of art was in a relatively good state of preservation, characteristically not showing aggressive physical-chemical progression. The find became possible to restoration with minor repairs and complements. After the removal of earth granules the restorer polished clean the blade of iron knife with microblaster, then the elements of horn handle was cleaned and polished with elastic disk. After chlorideexoneration of knife - in NaOH solution - for the passivation were used tannic solution, then the work of art was covered with acetone solution of Paraloid В 72. For assembling of the horn elements of handle there were pasted with cpoxi glue coloured with oxide so-called Araldite Rapid, for finishing of minor completions were used the same material. The restorer substituted the drifts of steel which were fixed the horn sheets for plastic rivets. These perforated plastic rivets in this case can guarantee for reversibility of assembly. The iron knife with a horn handle of Roman age is on view at the exhibition of Göcseji Museum in Zalaegerszeg, entitled „Centres along the Zala River".
