a one-time event. This act can be considered as intentional deposition. Lithic finds of the central stripe of the settlement were also investigated by the same system and methodology as used for the northern part of the area published in 2014. Altogether 359 pieces of stone artefacts were found. The assemblage shows a balanced settlement material with traces of local stone knapping and production of stone utensils, especially, quernstones. The production of these grinding stones, made of local raw material (red sandstone of the Balaton highlands) was also noted before. The current lithic assemblage comprised more retouched tools and blades, i.e., chipped stone tools of elaborate forms. The procurement of raw materials is fairly similar to the Northern part of the settlement with the important difference that more exotic raw materials of distant origin were spotted. The occurrence of honey-coloured Balkan flint is especially noteworthy; this raw material was spotted for the first time in Transdanubia. It is of special interest, that a physically very similar (though inferiour quality) local raw material was preferentially used on the site. The proper identification and nondestructive provenancing of long distance trade elements is a task for further research. 29
