ADOLF MAYER BOOKBINDER FROM PÁPA (1848-1918) The essay introduces the life and work of a bookbinder and bookseller from Pápa, named Adolf Mayer basing on archival sources and his identified bookbindings from public and private collections and libraries as well. We get acquainted with the general features and values of bookbinding-techniques of Adolf Mayer. The author publishes the bibliographical and bookbinding-technical data of the volumes which were identified as Adolf's Mayer handworks. In the descriptions the author alludes to the ulterior possessors of the tools for decorating used by Mayer, and it's forth deriving which he previously in his studies had reviewed. Some of these tools make part of the collection of the Laczkó Dezső Múzeum. The essey is illustrated with bookbindigphotos. 241
