THE MOTIFS OF NATIONAL REMEMBRANCE IN THE POETRY OF PÁL ÁNYOS Pál Ányos, one of the greatest poet in the IB' 1' century Hungary was a a Pauline father. His work had divisive effect on the opinion of literary historians in the last two centuries. But his talent, honesty and strong commitment to his nation was never a subject of debate. Addition to his Pauline upbringing his sergeant-writerfriends (Barcsay, Bessenyei, Báróczy) took significant effect on his worldview and poetry. 50 letter of him has left. Ányos has called 'the Poet of Soreness', art is the elegy. Near the phrasing of deep feelings and friendship the main motif of his Poetry is the strong patriotism. In his ode-mooded poems we can find several expressions of his worry about the Hungarian culture and history. By writing poetry pamphlets with political subject he responded to the problems of the given society firmly. Pál Ányos was buried in the vault of the franciscan church in Veszprém (Vár utca). We can find a memory-table of him on the wall of the church. The 'Irodalmi Műhely' (Literary Workshop) is a worthy keeper of the heritage of Pál Ányos. 174
