THE RAW MATERIALS OF BUILDING INDUSTRY IN VESZPRÉM COUNTY With respect to raw material sources of the building industry, Veszprém County occupies a central place in Transdanubia, owing mainly to its diverse geological constitution. The present work set the target to discuss the geological development of mines first in its general outlines then breaking down into regions. Accordingly, the possibility is offered to draw attention to the situation of the geological reserves of certain sites and also to such regions which store economically exploitable raw materials. In some cases, where it was possible, mention was made on certain mining historical circumstances. In the general part a chronological list is given comprising those rock-types, genesis which, owing to their geological constitution, are apt for economical exploitation with the present building industrial technologies. The subsequent part discusses the geological reserves and the functioning mines in the Veszprém district, to a certain extent in a cadaster character (Fig. 14) ; this all is well surveyable on the attached map. After this first contribution the results obtained in the other parts of the county already under investigation will be submitted. István Bubics
