OTTÓ HERMAN, who was instructed to prepare for it, realized that success depended on a specific scientific conception. One of the main subject areas was migration research, a field that HERMAN represented for Hungary. Fruitful research by VICTOR TSCHUSI did much to further Hungarian ornithology in the same period.
