Eszter FERENCZ FROM UNEARTHING TO RESTORING. EXPERIENCE WITH RESTORING GLASS ARTEFACTS FROM THE EXCAVATION SITE NR. 4 AT THE SÁRVÁR BYPASS NR. 88. Aftec the glass artefacts were restored at the excavation site Nr. 4 at the Sárvár bypass Nr. 88 the funds from a large-scale cemetery material could be examined. This work is ideal for showing the importance of proper unearthing of especially endangered objects, like glass artefacts. Thus restorers can measure the condition of artefacts, thus they can unearth funds more safely. Workshop activities are also easier this way, as there is already an on-sight picture of the objects in the inventories, thus making the removal of earth balls from the in situ funds. Restoring glass artefacts is time-taking and strenuous labour. Cleaning takes part in several steps and the assembly is slowed down by the large number of fragments. The most remarkable changes can be experienced when glass objects are unearthed and restored. The objects come to life from ruins and give both experts and interested laymen an insight into handicrafts and expertise of long-gone eras. 397
