The primal target of such reconnaissance was to get an in-depth knowledge of the vicinity surrounding these two centers of power (i.e. St. Vid and Savaria), to say, the southeastern hill foot slope of the Kőszeg-Rohonci Hills, where a vital route called the Borostyánkő Route has been stretching since the Neolithic. Up-to-date excavations well supplement old data and the information recovered by the most recent field reconnaissances. Owing to the aforementioned, human presence on 99 locations in 230 cases has been recorded in the microregion as the actual status of the research reveals. For the purpose of environmental archaeological testing, Pál Sümegi completed sample taking processes on two spots (namely, in an alder bog at the foot of St. Vid; and in Bucsu on the alluvia of Creek Arany and from the interior of a water pipe dating back to the Roman Age). Our complex and joint work will be published shortly in a volume presenting the most recent results of environmental archaeology attained in respect to the Transdanubian region. Such volume will be published by the Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The publication of the microregion that endeavors to reach perfection in archaeological terms will be included in a minor monograph to be published soon. 107
