MËRKL, P.: The species of 27 beetle families (Coleoptera) from Őrség, Western Hungary Quasimus minutissimus (Germar, 1817) — Szakonyfalu, 18.07.1961, 26­27.07.1961, EJ (3, HNHM); Szőce, 15.11.1961, PT (1, HNHM). — Inhabiting the lower branches and the underweed, it is uncommon in forested parts of the hills of Hungary. Negastrius pulchellus (Linnaeus, 1758) — Rátót: Rába-part [11], 10.04.1982, ÁL (8, HNHM). — A rare species of sandy or gravelly watersides. It is known from two further localities (Ocsa, Siófok) in Hungary but these require confirmation. Oedostethus tenuicornis (Germar, 1824) — Rátót: Rába-part [11], 05.07.1985, SzD (2, SM), (1, pcSzD); 09.07.1983, ÁL (1, HNHM). — It is rare species of riversides in Hungary. Apart from the above-mentioned locality, it is known from the following localities (Fig. 1.): Budapest (unreliable) (CT46); Mo­hács (CR29); Nógrádverőce (CT59); Siófok (unreliable) (BS79). Zorochros quadriguttatus (Laporte de Castelnau, 1840) — Rátót: Rába­part [11], 09.07.1983, SzD (2, SM), (1, pcSzD); 09.07.1983, 20.08.1984, ÁL (2, HNHM). — Associated with waterside plant debris of clear, fast-running rivers, it is very rare in Hungary. Apart from the above-mentioned locality, it is known only from the following localities (Fig. 2.): Abaujvár: Bika-rét (EU27); Csepreg (XN25); Dunakiliti: Öreg-Duna (XP71); Ercsi (CT43). Cardiophorus ruficollis (Linnaeus, 1758) — Csörötnek: Huszászi-patak völgye, 21.05.1983, PA (1, HNHM); Szalafő: Borjas-erdő, 03.05.1985, RI (1, pcIR). — It is one of the rarest species of Cardiophorus in Hungary. Most of its localities are in Transdanubia. DERMESTIDAE Attagenus pellio (Linnaeus, 1758) — Szalafő, 29.05.1982, PA (4, SM), (2, HNHM); 21-28.05.1983, RI (1, pcIR). — A cosmopolitan pest of wooly products, it is collected mainly in houses but occurs in outdoor habitats as well. Attagenus unkolor (Brahm, 1791) — Őrimagyarósd, 19.04.1987, PA (1, SM); Szakonyfalu, 20.07.1982, TS (1, SM); 19.06.1993, RI (1, pcIR). — It occurs along with the previous species. Attagenus punctatus (Scopoli, 1772) — Szalafő, 21-28.05.1983, RI (1, pcIR). — It is quite rare in Hungary. In contrast to the two above congeners it avoids synanthropic habitats. Further Hungarian localities (Fig. 3.): Budapest: Sváb-hegy (CT46); Debrecen (ET46); Isaszeg (CT76); Nadap (CT 13); Pécs (BS80); Ságvár (BS79); Siófok (unreliable) (BS79); Vérteskozma: Fáni-völgy (CT05). Dermestes undulatus Brahm, 1790 — Szalafő, 08.07.1986, PA (2, HNHM). — A frequent species, it occurs everywhere in Hungary. Dermestes murinus Linnaeus, 1758 — Magyarszombatfa, 23.08.1980, RI (12, pcIR). — It is frequent all over Hungary. Dermestes lardarius Linnaeus 1758 — Őriszentpéter: Bárkás-tó, 23­26.05.1983, RI (1, pcIR). — It is a cosmopolitan pest of stored products rich in animal protein but quite rarely collected. Trinodes hirtus (Fabricius, 1781) — Szakonyfalu, 19.06.1960, EJ (1, HNHM). — It develops in insect remains under bark or in old houses. Although widely distributed in Hungary, it is seldom collected because of its cryptic habits. 118
