Hydroporus foveolatus Heer, 1839 is reported from Hungary for the first time. INTRODUCTION Scarcely anything has hitherto been published concerning the water beetle fauna of Őrség. The occurrence of several species have been mentioned in ADAM'S (1992, 1994, 1996) and HORVATOVICH'S (1981) papers. The families in question are represented by about 130 species in Hungary, of which 39 ones have been known to occur in the territory of Őrség (Table 1.). The collected material (some 200 specimens) is deposited in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum (Department of Zoology, Budapest), Janus Pannonius Museum (Pécs), Mátra Museum (Gyöngyös) and Savaria Museum (Szombathely). Concerning the species characteristic for Őrség some examples may be given in the following: Ilybius guttiger, Gaurodytes affinis, G. melanarius, Asternus subtilis, Hydroporus nigrita, H. umbrosus, Hydroporidius melanarius, Bidessus grossepunctatus. One species, Hydroporus foveolatus Heer, 1839 is reported from Hungary for the first time.
