It based mainly on the computerized database system of the Hungarian Natural History Museum. Total number of taxa collected in őrség is 553. INTRODUCTION Mycological collectings focused on the macroscopic fungi of Őrség (Agaricales, Boletales, Russulales respectively) have been carried out by the mycologists of the Hungarian Natural History Museum since the 1950s. However, floristical records were published only recently (CHRIST, 1988; BABOS, 1989; VASS, 1981, 1992; RIMÓCZI, 1994; TAKÁCS, 1994; ZAGYVA, 1994). Present work is a compilation of data of mushroom species detected in Őrség. It based mainly on the computerized database system of the Botanical Department of Hungarian Natural History Museum. Determination of fungal taxa and using their scientific names based on works of JÜLICH (1984) and MOSER (1983). Climatic and geographical conditions of Őrség allow extraordinary abundance of fungi in comparison with other regions of Hungary. The neighbouring Austrian Alps have favourable influence on the climate of őrség. The yearly average precipitation is the highest here which contributes to the formation of acidic soil patterns with many terricolous acidofrequent fungus species. Total number of taxa collected in Őrség is 553 (Mycorrhisa taxa: 313; Saprotrophic taxa: 240). Genera represented by high number of species are as follows: Cortinarius (75 spp.), Lactarius (37 spp.), Russula (59 spp.) and Tricholoma (28 spp.).
