Bevezető

located in 17 separated cabinets of the in County Vas gathered bird selection represented by 200 species, as well as 23 mammalians as a present from Mr. Chernél István. The basis of the herbarium is made up by the valuable present from Mr. Waisbecker Antal and Mr. Piers Vilmos of Kőszeg. After 1923 Mr. Chernél István has gone, who founded the Department for Natural Science, came Mr. Gáyer Gyula to the head of the department. He recognised, that researches in natural science can't be carried out by local personnel only, therefore he has recruited outward co-workers, who were entrusted, to work out in detail of single subjects. This tendency is unchanged up to our days. In the last decades the diverse tendencies are alternating in natural science research. Instead of the initial needy to the administrative units researches were extended from the seventies, and a new attitude came into prominence, which resulted quality both quantitativ changes. Namely a complex regional view, in that the research ranges over the good limited geographical units. The preliminary condition the new demands is, to strenghten personnel, technical and financial possibilities. In the year 1976 worked 4 researchers and 3 preparators at the department. This year do start the Praenorcium natural picture research programme organised by Mr. Horváth Ernő patterned after Bakony research. The number of the outward coworkers exceeds 50 people. Over and above the meaningful increment of the museum collection has growed the demand on the publicity of the research results. The Year Book of the Savaria Museum has summarising methodical the natural science research of the region since 1963. Relating to the magnitude of order the research of Praenoricum it was neccessary, to be issued the research results in a separated volumen. First in the year 1981 was published the Praenoricum's Natural Picture, which in the year 1987 as an independent publication issued under name Praenorica Folia Historica Naturalia. In the social and economical life our age's happened changes made no without impressions to the activity of the Natural Sciences Department. In accordance with the times demand we are living through a process of the professional specialisation. The department is specialised on a professional field, which the economic, health and enviromental protecting aspects are indisputable. That professional field takes aim at the pillars the reservation of the biological balance, and the research of the parazitoid insects. During the last decades accummulated unfavourable industrial and agricultural impacts, upsetting the balance processes, and countryside and european hiatus putting in an apperance at research of parazitoids, we had realised - filling up the gap - this area should be one of the profil the Natural Science Department's, and join the home and european biosphere research for foodstuffschain examination. This large-scale programme is a part of other research one in cooperation with increasing responsibility. The publicationsdemand of the researchresults on a workmanlike and high level requests the appearing in a new form of the Savaria Museum's Bulletin too. Respecting to the precedessors publishes the direction of the Museums of County Vas the sufficient, but returning to the traditions the volume Nr. SAVARIA 20/2. 12
