As well as its ability to tolerate these levels of air pollution, this species is highly aggressive and it is noticeably on the increase. In the Botanical Garden this species was found on Catalpa bignonioides, Populus tremula and Salix alba. 8. Lepraria incana (L.) Ach. This species has been poorly interpreted taxonomically, often being misidentified in collections, and therefore overlooked. It was found around the bases of numerous trees, particularly Populus tremula and Catalpa bignonioides. 9. Parme Ha acetabulum (Necker) Duby A single thallus, 4 cm in diameter, was found on Salix alba. 10. P. glabratula (Lamy) Nyl. A few small thalli were found over a limited area of a single Populus tremula. 11. P. sulcata Taylor This species is widerspread on Populus tremula, Salix alba and Catalpa bignonioides. 12. Phaeophyscia orbicularis (Necker) Moberg This species can be found in small patches around the base of Populus tremula. 13. Physcia adscendens (Fr.) H. Olivier The thalli of this species cover large areas on Populus tremula trunks. 14. P. aipolia (Ehrh. ex Humb.) Fürnrohr The very few thalli of this species, found on Populus tremula, had poorly developed apothecia. 15. P. teneUa (Scop.) DC. A few thalli were recorded from Populus tremula and Salix alba. 16. Pseudevernia furfuracea (L.) Zopf A few small thalli, 1.0-1.5 cm in diameter, were found on Populus tremula. 17. Scoliciosporum chlorococcum (Graewe ex Stenhammar) Vezda Common, but overlooked : sterile thalli cover very extensive areas of trunks and branches of various trees (eg. Catalpa, Fraxinus, Populus, Salix), and the inconspicuous apothecia can frequently be found when a closer examination is made. Like Lecanora conizaeoides, this species is on the increase, being tolerant of similar pollution levels. 18. Xanthoria parietina (L.) Th. Fr. A few thalli, locally influenced by dust, were found to be present on Populus tremula. In addition to the epiphytic species listed above, numerous lichens were observed on a variety of saxicolous substrates, such as concrete, cement, stone walls and the rock garden. A KÁMONI ARBORÉTUM EPIFITON ZUZMÓFLÓRÁJA KISS T. es M. R. D. SEAWARD A Szombathely peremén fekvő arborétum kisebb mezőgazdasági és ipari létesítményekkel van körülvéve. Ez a tény a száras - különösen a fenyőfélék - és a telep testű epifiton zuzmók szempontjából egyaránt káros. A főbb szennyezőforrások: Mesterséges Termékenyítő Állomás, Gépállomás, Fafeldolgozó Üzem. A szennyezettség következtében a botanikus kertben előforduló epifiton zuzmók többsége toxitoleráns. A levegő jelentős mértékben való szennyezettségét jelzi a Lecanora conizaeoides és a Scoliciosporum chlorococcum zuzmók előfordulása. 43
