TECHNOLOGICAL APPLIANCE IN THE HUNGARIAN PHARMACIES AROUND THE TURN OF THE CENTURY B. ZBORAY Due to the rapidly increasing turnover of the Hungarian pharmacies during the past century and to the periodical lack of assistants, the Hungarian apothecaries were compelled to construct appliances, by the aid of (which the (productive operations could be not only facilitated, but also accelerated. The author presents several tools introduced around the turn of !the present century by the aid of which the antihygienic practice of the compounding and dispensing of medicinal powders in capsules could be improved. , In addition several apparatuses are described which have been constructed for the production of bidistilled water. An equipment for filtration, an ampoulefilling apparatus for low output and a tool for dividing mercury ointment are presented as well.
