Az Alpokalja természeti képe közlemények 7. (Praenorica - Folia historico-naturalia. Szombathely, 2004)
NAGY F., SZÉLGY. és VÍG K.: Vas megye futóbogár-faunája (Col.: Carabidae) B. illigeri, Pterostichus rhaeticus, Amara curta, A. municipalis, Harpalus honestus, Anthracus longicornis, Demetrias imperialis, Odacantha melanura. The borders of the Vas Valley are the county boundary to the north, the Vas Hills to the west and the Rába-side to the south and east. Few natural landscapes remain in the Vas Valley, most of it having been taken over by settlement or farming. HORVATOVICH (1980b) published 68 ground beetle species from the Acsád, Csepreg and Vép district. István VÖRÖS, the schoolteacher of Egyházasrádóc, collected insects from 1946 to 1962 round his home, and these included 22 ground beetle species; most of these occurrences are published here for the first time. Most of the Vas Valley is unexplored entomologically, but a few rare species have occurred: Notiophilus aestuans, Bembidion obtusum, Poecilus lepidus, Pterostichus longicollis, Olisthopus rotundatus, Agonum versutum, Amara curta, A. equestris, A. plebeja, Harpalus cupreus fastuosus, Acupalpus interstitialis and Callistus lunatus. Presentation of the data: in terms of the system and species names, the works of primary note are MÜLLER-MOTZFELD (2004), and LÖBL and SMETANA (2003). The specimens were identified using the identification guides by FREUDE (1976) and HÛRKA (1996). Full species name and author, then literary references, with author, year of publication and page number, followed by the number of the literary reference in square brackets. The next paragraph contains occurrence data found in the literature with numbers of the literary references in square brackets. Then follow the collection data for the ground beetle specimens in the territory, arranged according to districts of Vas County (denoted by their initial letters). Where specimens have been collected in the same location, the name of the location appears only once and other data are separated by commas. The same applies where the same collector collected from a location at different times. In some cases, the location is followed by the Latin name of the plant association. The time of collection is followed by the habitat name (where the collector published it), then in brackets, an abbreviation for the method of collection and the initials of the collector. The data concludes with an abbreviation of the place the specimen is kept. The final section presents an outline of the known Hungarian distribution data for the species and of the main information to note about their habitats, based partly on the authors' own experience and partly on the faunistic literature on ground beetles in this country. Species whose occurrence in Vas County is reckoned to be unlikely are marked with an asterisk (*). Division of the county into districts and sub-districts sometimes runs into difficulties, as the various authors have used different names to describe the same localities, or even applied the same name to different localities. The divisions used here are those of ÁDÁM (1975). A Savaria Múzeum szervezésében 1976-ban 8
